À propos de cette écoute
It Ends with Us meets Small Great Things, Flowers for Sugar is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story of finding hope in the most unlikely and unexpected strangers.
In the heart of a small town shadowed by prejudice and secrets, three women—each with her own battles—find their lives irrevocably entwined.
Sugar, a young, resilient Black woman, faces the ultimate betrayal when her boyfriend abandons her right after childbirth. Left with nothing, she's forced onto the streets. Amidst the unforgiving struggles of homelessness, she promises her newborn a better future.
Daisy, an elderly White woman, lives alone, all that she once held dear gone. She wonders if she’d be better off dead. A fleeting encounter with Sugar leads Daisy to make a daring choice. One that alters both their destinies.
Lillian, a driven family attorney, has her dreams of motherhood shattered when her long-time boyfriend abruptly dumps her. When Lillian, who is White, learns that a young Black mother has been arrested and her infant son sent into foster care, her instinct is to find out how a mother could squander away the chance to be with her child. Curiosity turns to fierce protection when she learns the real reason why Sugar has been arrested.
These three women form an unlikely alliance. Together, they navigate the minefield of racism, ageism, and relentless judgement from their community, all working to confront their pasts and forge a better future. Is the hope of redemption enough to withstand the forces determined to tear them apart?
