The cruel king recruits Kara, presenting her an unenviable decision: follow her sovereign and forsake her friends of flight, or live as a fugitive among the reviled dragons. Actress Angele Masters is like a sonorous siren, her lilting, singsong cadence providing a captivating canvas for Fletcher’s unique language, almost musical in nature. Indeed, Masters’ old-world theatrics emanate an almost Shakespearean tonality, nevertheless softened by clear diction and fluid storytelling, sure to capture children’s imaginations.
