Moment by moment, it seems as if we are encountering this incredible diversity of things—the myriad experiences and circumstances we appear able to describe, grasp hold of, evaluate, protect ourselves against, enjoy, attain, and so on.

Life can certainly be experienced this way. But there is another perspective, one rooted in the recognition that nothing that arises ever stabilizes long enough to actually become whatever we imagine it has become. What we call “the moment” never quite arrives. The second hand of experience never lands, every perception dissolving the very instant it appears.

To be sure, we seem to be experiencing a complex array of identifiable, describable things, many of which suggest problem, threat, limitation, and lack. Yet upon closer examination, the world we imagine ourselves to be navigating reveals itself to be an unceasing, ungraspable flow—palpably present, yet fundamentally unresolvable owing to its infinitely detailed, ever-changing nature. The problems, fears, and limitations we imagine ourselves confronting turn out to be far less solid than they first appear.

As it becomes clear that neither a separate self nor the myriad things that self seems to be navigating can ultimately be found, the entire structure of struggling against life or searching for some presumably better moment begins to soften. What emerges is not a philosophical conclusion but a direct encounter with reality as it is: boundless, mysterious, ever-present, and free.

This book invites the listener into the discovery that every experience is a doorway into life's essential wholeness, revealing how the openness, presence and vitality we've been searching for are woven into the very fabric of reality itself, this singular life, shining forth miraculously as everything. From the highest highs to the lowest lows, every experience reveals itself to be an expression of the same indivisible reality.

Everything Is the Doorway is an invitation to discover this for yourself.
