Description
"A tender but unflinching portrayal of the bond between two sisters." (Celeste Ng, New York Times best-selling author of Little Fires Everywhere and Everything I Never Told You)
A dazzling novel of two sisters and their emotional journey through love, loyalty, and heartbreak
Two sisters - Miranda, the older, responsible one, always her younger sister's protector; Lucia, the headstrong, unpredictable one, whose impulses are huge and, often, life changing. When their mother dies and Lucia starts hearing voices, it is Miranda who must find a way to reach her sister. But Lucia impetuously plows ahead, marrying a bighearted, older man only to leave him, suddenly, to have a baby with a young Latino immigrant. She moves her new family from the States to Ecuador and back again, but the bitter constant is that she is, in fact, mentally ill. Lucia lives life on a grand scale, until, inevitably, she crashes to earth.
Miranda leaves her own self-contained life in Switzerland to rescue her sister again - but only Lucia can decide whether she wants to be saved. The bonds of sisterly devotion stretch across oceans - but what does it take to break them?
Told in alternating points of view, Everything Here Is Beautiful is, at its heart, the story of a young woman's quest to find fulfillment and a life unconstrained by her illness. But it's also an unforgettable, gut-wrenching story of the sacrifices we make to truly love someone - and when loyalty to one's self must prevail over all.
Read by Cassandra Campbell, Emily Woo Zeller, Ozzie Rodriguez, Kim Mai Guest, and Paul Boehmer.

Review
What a beautiful story. Having loved someone with a mental illness it was so “on point” from the family perspective. Touching, hopeful, realistic, sad but true. This is life.

I just did not love this book!
Very disappointing. I was expecting better after reading all the other reviews. The book was boring to say the least until it got towards the end. Told way too slow and sometimes the narrators bordered on annoying. So sorry. I never write bad reviews but wow. Not good!

4.5
I honestly loved this story and it would have been a 5 star had the POV not changed randomly so many times. The story was 1st person for like 60% of the book, then switched to 3rd person, then there was one chapter back in 1st person, then 3rd person, then the epilogue was back on first person. I honestly didn’t realize it happened at first but once I noticed it just kind of bothered me a bit.

Beautiful story
This book rambles around a bit, and is told from multiple perspectives, but the underlying story is so touching and beautiful. As a sister of someone who struggled with mental illness, and eventually lost his battle, this touched a deep part of my heart. It is so raw and true. Thank you for sharing an honest account from both sides of the illness.

An enjoyable listen
I listen to a lot of books and this is one of the few books I have listened to that had multiple narrators. That is something I really enjoy and it was well done in this book. It was interesting to hear about cultures and places different from my own. Mental illness is so misunderstood in our culture and I think this makes this story especially important. People need to know the struggles of those suffering. My hope is this story will illicit more compassion for those who are struggling with mental illness. I definitely recommend this book.

Beautiful empathetic look at mental illness
It’s long. That’s my only complaint. About half way through I put it down for a while. I had a hard time with the narrator shifts. I liked each character and was annoyed when the voice changed. Eventually though I grew to appreciate them all. I am glad I picked it back up because at the end I really felt connected with and sympathetic to all of the characters. How they viewed each other and their own struggles to understand the illness and to separate the person from the disease. Yes it was depressing but beautiful too.

Beautiful
This book is a sensitive and enlightening journey into the world of mental illness and how it affects individuals and families. I loved how the author let us peek into the heads of all the main characters so we could see events from various perspectives and with a kaleidoscopic of emotions. Lee doesn’t shy away from the pain and heartache that often pervades human relationships, and she also describes so accurately the little moments of joy that can pierce such pain and make it all worthwhile.

Mental Health is a real issue
Great book! Nominated it for our book club and the girls loved the story of two sisters and how they deal with mental health. Mental health is so prevalent today and it is everywhere. Some function in the world and some don't but I'm sure you know someone who is impacted by mental health. I cried at the end of this book. A must read~
