There's something dangerous about him, but when she mentions his presence to her friend Len and Len's boyfriend Caeran, she's surprised by their reactions. Len drags her off to a New Mexico village where Manda learns about the aelven and their ancient conflict with vampires. Narrator Samantha Kaye voices Manda as a down-to-earth character whose self-protective instincts falter when she meets the beautiful Savhoran. Listeners will fall in love with Kaye's depiction of Savhoran, finding it easy to understand Manda's conflicted feelings as she wonders if she can survive the pain of loving someone who may be doomed.
