In a peaceful suburban town outside Minneapolis, life is simple. Cory Dubois, the team's second-best scorer and leader in goal assists, has dreams of one day leaving RiverCreek to become a doctor.

After they begin dating, the hockey team finally wins its first state title in years. When rivalries from within the team extend beyond the rink, two innocent young people pay the ultimate price, teaching Cory, Tara, and others that acting reckless can carry a heavy burden. But will Cory and Tara ever escape RiverCreek and find their happily-ever-after?
