A teenage girl’s disappearance leads a washed-up investigative reporter, Brie Cardone, to a small town across the Hudson, where she stumbles upon a human trafficking ring luring young girls with promises of freedom and witchcraft. When police chalk the case up as a runaway, Brie solicits the help of NYC Detective Clare Amatto. Following a trail of spells and visions to the leader of a Caribbean Witch Order, they land in hot and humid Cuba, a place Clare, the daughter of exiled Cuban parents, has feared for her entire life.
The search leads them through the sunny Havana streets that light up with sultry music and colorful carnivals only to hide the hideous crimes under its timeworn cobblestone. Each passing day lessens their chances of finding the teen. And if they do find her, will the island let them out alive?
