Damian is putting the final touches on his inventions before their presentation at the Computer Electronics Show when he receives a call from Natalie Severino of the SJPD Cold Case unit about a new (old) case. There was a death of a tech executive nearly a decade ago. At the time the Medical Examiners of two counties left his death classified as undetermined. What can Damian do as a computer genius to find evidence that would change that determination? After a decade long fight between the executive's spouse and the tech company's executives, she would lose millions of dollars if the court case was resolve in favor of the company. The wife made a last minute call to the SJPD and was referred to retired Detective Severino. Damian needed to find new evidence about the executive's death soon.
Meanwhile Hermione Knowles, his ward, has a problem at school. Someone has hacked into the school's files and wiped the scholastic records of all high school graduating seniors. The school has less then three weeks to recover the files before college applications are due.
