    There are so many moments from this book that remained with me over the two decades since I first read it. I wouldn’t recommend it to others as the best Steinbeck, but I have personally always loved it for the moments. Reading it for the second time, in the beginning I thought I’d grown out of it. And then by the end the parts I liked least 20 years ago hit differently and I cried at the beauty of the end.
