    Description

    Brought to you by Penguin.

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a London house, he makes a series of horrific discoveries about his client. Soon afterwards, various bizarre incidents unfold in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

In Dracula, Bram Stoker created one of the great masterpieces of the horror genre, brilliantly evoking a nightmare world of vampires and vampire hunters and also illuminating the dark corners of Victorian sexuality and desire.

    An old-fashioned masterpiece

    Story: profound and exquisite
    Narrator: truly superb
Quality of writing: not exactly top-notch by modern standards
Analytical essay at the end: garbage

This is a great story covered by a layer of dust, since writing techniques evolve over time and we have to be honest and say that by today's standards, it is a bit unpolished. I will say no more about that, because people tend to get angry when someone dares to criticize a... classic!! However, the story is profound, it touches some fundamental truths in a man's soul and after listening to it, I reintroduced my rosary from Catholic school into my bedroom. Just in case!

The narrator is PERFECT. I don't usually describe things as perfect, but this was amazing to me so much that, for the first time in many many years, I had to look under my bed before I went to sleep. But that's what you get when you listen to a story like this with your headphones in your bed at night, especially since the narration is so full of life. Surely, this narrator's authenticity is partly due to the fact that he is a co-creator of the magnificent 2020 miniseries "Dracula" from BBC.

And maybe it's just me, but that analytical essay about Dracula appended to this audiobook is s**t.

I would recommend this audiobook if you have some Christian ideas and fears even just floating around in the dark background of your mind and if you can handle old-fashioned English writing in a magnitude of, let's say, 15% of Jane Austen. Haha!

    Wonderful Book, Terrible Introduction

    Outstanding.
Introduction however is terrible. It rails against Stoker's explicitly moralist intentions with modern arrogance.

    Genialer Hörgenuss!

Gut gegen Böse. Liebe gegen Hass.

    Volle Punktzahl! Hundertprozentige Empfehlung!
