    Overall, its good, but...

*Minor spoilers, it has no impact on what happens in the book, its mainly about the jarring shift at the ending.*
So.. It seems the author was bored of the whole "War" theme and decided to do a "10 years later" bit and ended it.
The story up till then is pretty darn good, which is why its so odd that the author decides to end it with "Okay, all done with the war thing". It doesnt seem the series is over though.. So what? Is Slater the new bad guy? I donno, the series ends with a lot of lose endings. So who knows.. Guess we'll see.

    a great 2nd voyage

this is a great book which fills me with joy with the practically that main char shows in his outlook of thing. this story expands and breaks on some of the common themes of dungeon core novels and I continue to look forward to seeing what will happen as Slater deals with is newest situation in book 3

out of ideas? kill the best side character

needless death of great side character ruined this book.
idiotic decisions by the captain enable bad things. he knows what is going on and decides to wait and see and thus gets half the crew killed. why? so stupid.

so much lazy writing and killing off the best character for literally no reason.

This was just as good as the first if not better!

I loved this book it was so much fun and I can't wait for more. Both Dean Henegar and Jack Voraces make this book unique and exhilarating. Dean is able to put an amazing amount of detail without it dragging on or a loss of focus and is able to keep the reader's attention and interest meanwhile Jack brings to life the characters while giving them their own individual personalities and simply put absolutely phenomenal book all the way around trust me you do want to read/ listen to this book.

Just as awesome, if not more then the first book!

It builds on everything that the first book does and has, and concludes the first arch of the series. I can't wait for book 3 and to see where Dean takes the series!

    GNOOOOOOOOOMES!!!!!!

    author mulligan's ending

what was the decent setup from the first book is completely ruined. it turns from being a "dungeon in Space story" to we are going to try and return home but oh my God that might take too many books , so instead I'm going to send off the survivors and Mulligan the entire ending of the book. complete disappointment what was a decent setup. now that I'm pissed, also to hell with all of your British stiff upper lip right right cheerio bulshit anachronism from World War 1

    The writer gave up...

That's it, all there is to say. the first book started strong as a good Litrpg dungeoncore. This book abandoned that, but what's worst is it could have been good; if labeled as a sci fantasy it could have been really entertaining... but it wasn't. It's like going for a sip of Sprite and only getting seltzer water. And that last chapter... was like finding a fly at the bottom of the cup.

    It’s... its...

To call this story ’Awesome’, is an insult to its greatness. I’ve always loved an iron giant ending in a storyline, and in this case it’s just the beginning! I’m super excited for the next one! J. Voraces dose a great job as a narrator, Although he does mix up the voices of a couple characters in the final few chapters, but it’s not a big deal (at lest not to me).
Mr. Henegar pleas keep writing, and Mr. Voraces pleas keep narrating, and I promise to keep listening.

alot to love and to dislike

this book started out as litrpg which is all I listen to. I've listened to cultivation but enjoy the leveling system and prompts more than anything. it feels like a game. Spoiler: This book is not litrpg nor is it cultivation. I finished it but almost got a refund . essentially there are levels in the first book then slater removes some of the limitations of the council and just does whatever he wants. at this point it is no longer any sort of lit rpg. just a fantasy book with more potential than plot.

problems: the limited races he went with and focused on were not to my liking. who the hell cares about gnomes?

mana was a rushed and wasted addition. Slater had mana manipulation which is his greatest spell and is basically telekinesis. instead he uses a push spell called mana blast which does nothing 90% of the time and is a mana hog. despite this he keeps on using it. I get you can't make it too easy for him but he could trip boarders, pull grenade pins, fire weapons. nudge barrels towards friendlies. etc. nope mana blast and mana blast.

when he went away from mobs the story really became boring. automated turrets and drones are beyond boring.

the ending felt rushed. I loved the human interaction and pride at humans being adept at war etc.

combining fantasy and sci-fi is ambitious. truly. however orca trying to use ranged weapons or kobold being amazing because of laser rifles is stupid.

having a British narrator (no matter how talented, he is) for American man characters in all his books is ridiculous.

I will not be listening to slater's continued adventures. I only finished it through sheer effort.

    Good story until the end

It was a good story with an abrupt, crap ending. It looks like the author suddenly got tired of writing and just came up with a half assed ending instead of continuing the story for another book or two. Save your money and read something else.
