    The answer to contradicting diets!

    This book thought me about respect for traditional cooking, before all the chemical stuff got added to our food. If you want (I exaggerate a bit, but still) to stop buying expensive skin care creams, get rid of joint pains, buy this book. Cooking for good health was never so basic and simple.

    Good Information Mixed with Crazy Sh!*

    My Quack alarm went off many times while listening to this audiobook. There is some good information, particularly the chapter on lipids, but there is some strange stuff too.
    Dr. Shanahan quotes from Dr. Andrew Weil and Michael Pollan, but rather than “Eat food, not too much. Mostly plants” she advises eating lots of meat, and the eyeballs, brain, testicles, ... well, every part. Cook chicken with the skin on and eat the skin. Instead of eating unhealthy McDonalds' french fries you should fry sliced potatoes at home using lard. Yup, lard.
    The abundant analogies were weird too -- Like a meth lab in the desert with it's paint thinner and gasoline. What kind of meth does that lab make?
    The narrator Eliza Foss had perfect diction and was easy to understand (except she pronounced Hawaiian Poke like poke with a stick rather than the correct 'po-kee') but her sing-song voice came off like a 20 hour Masingale douche commercial.
    Overall this one of my least favorite nutrition audiobooks.

    Audible is the best delivery

    This book is very well written, researched and informative. Because it's pretty lengthy and has many scientific and data-oriented sections, I think audible is the only reason I finished this in a reasonable time since I could listen to it in the car and on road trips. Otherwise, making it a singular activity each evening, book-in-hand, I may have fallen asleep without ever making a dent. I've ordered the hard copy as a reference now that I've completed the book via audible.

    Highly recommended

    This was super informative and well written. Other reviews mention it's repetitiveness and how weird the suggestions are. I appreciated the repetition of very important points, and what might seem weird to a modern reader is simply the presentation of a traditional way of eating.
    I found the information empowering. I've also implemented most of the suggestions months ago and can say it is life changing. I will certainly continue to follow the advice in this book and others. I've never felt better!

    Life changing

    It took me about two weeks to finish this book. I already look different, and so do my children. My joints aren't aching, my skin has cleared up and I feel better energy. Highly recommend!!!

    Excellent Logic

    What made the experience of listening to Deep Nutrition the most enjoyable?

    The fact that the author discussed food source down to the molecular level made this book and its advice resonate with logic. Milk and dairy are not just milk and dairy. Source and process matters. Most nutritionists and doctors in the advice business make wide generalizations about food groups. How our chromosomes and DNA are affected by what we swallow is more complex than the average advice giver is aware.

    What does Eliza Foss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Although a little sing-songy at times, she does a good job of adding emphasis. Overall the narration was well done.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this book. One of my all-time favorites. Kudos and thanks to the authors for putting this resource together.

    Eye-Opening Truth Bomb

    Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    I recommend Deep Nutrition. This is a book for virtually every American because certain researchers and the medical establishment are blaming "fats" for everything but Dr. Cate Shanahan expertly explains how this simplistic outlook is dead wrong. Furthermore, she proposes excellent solutions.

    Have you listened to any of Eliza Foss’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Eliza Foss? Seriously?

    Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    I loved the emphasis on epigenetics, especially as a scientist. That being said, the book is extremely simple for anybody to read and understand. I'm writing a book on Epigenetics because I think it's the future of scientific knowledge and I will definitely be singing the praises of Deep Nutrition in my own book.

    Any additional comments?

    Along with a short list of other health books, this book is a necessary part of your inoculation to modern "establishment" medical culture, which is leading America in greater and greater disease and obesity.

    Eye opening!

    This book ahould be required reading in every high school. Very good coverage of the cause and effect of foods we eat. Especially critical info for those wanting to conceive. Reader was easy to listen to.

    Hella good

    This audio book was pretty mind blowing. It makes a convincing case that oxidized PUFA oils and the free radicals they create are terrible for us at a molecular level. It also discusses lipid glycation from sugar and explains how to eat a healthier diet.

    Meh....

    While I agree with much of the good nutrition info in this book, I was lost at the point the offer talked about the merits of eating eyeballs. I recommend a much better nutrition book offered on Audible, ‘How Not To Die”. More knowledgeable and entertaining. Sugar and Vegetable fat are evil are the big takeaways here. I would have appreciated more suggestions from the Author of common foods with no veg oils as they seem everywhere!

    Worth Every Penny

    One of my takeaway is to consume as little sugar and vegetable oil as possible to staying healthy.

    This woman really hates vegetable oil and sugar

    You probably could summarize a good portion of this book in “avoid vegetable oils and artificial sugars and try to eat food that we had for the last 5000 years and try to let food be in its original form” but besides that I learned a bunch if useful information about the food we eat and on how to integrate it into your life, thanks for that
