Fleshman Brings us Another Great Read
The Voodoo Detective Returns. Returning with Armond Fontenot, His Antique Dealer Friend and now partner, they move on the edge of the dark side as they work to uncover the mysteries surrounding their clients death
Not only is the case layers deep but as always has an unexpected twist as they try to unwind the story.
Patrella’s narration makes the story a great listen.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
Note: When selecting books to read or listen to for reviews I try and select authors and stories that interest me. Sometimes I am fortunate and other times not so fortunate. Either way, I try to review the books with integrity.

Voodoo Mystery
Detective Byone and Armond are on the case after their client turns up dead. This case will be bring everything home to Byone and challenge him in ways he never imagined.
This audiobook was just OK for me. Everything, from the plot to the narration was superficial and lacked very much depth. There was not a lot of character development and I never really cultivated any affinity for the main characters. I have not ready the previous books in the series so that may be why I felt like there were missing pieces to the story. The setting was interesting to me as I am always drawn to the mystery that is New Orleans but this was not played up, either. In the end, I was just waiting for it to end.
I received this book for free through Audiobook Boom! in exchange for an honest review.

Another cool case for Byone
What made the experience of listening to Death on Canal Street the most enjoyable?
Great narration and characters are all I could have hoped for. I love this series and Byone as the noir detective now has his partner on his cases that only makes it more fun and enjoyable. This story was so good I hoped it would not end. I can't get enough of this series. I highly recommend it. A Thrilling Series
If you could sum up Death on Canal Street in three words, what would they be?
It really delivers!
What other book might you compare Death on Canal Street to and why?
I think the only time I compare books is when they are ranked horribly. This isn't the case and it stands alone, basking in its own power.
Have you listened to any of Nicholas Patrella’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not yet. I plan to listen to The Cemetery Paintings next though; same author, previous book in the series.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were multiple twists that made me say, "What?! Rewind and listen again!"

Another good book in the series
Would you listen to Death on Canal Street again? Why?
No. It was a good story but not that good that I will listen to it again.
Any additional comments?
I had received book 3 and book 4 of this series free from the author / narrator / publisher and I'm providing an unbiased review for both the books.
I left a more detailed review on the book #3's page. Don't want to duplicate the entire thing here. In summary though - The books work as stand alone story most of the time. I can easily see both books as an episode of one of the crime thriller shows on tv.

Narration takes away from the story
I really tried to get into this book, but I just couldn't. The narration was just so bad it made it impossible to enjoy it. The character voices were terrible and the way he pronounced certain words grated on my nerves. The premise of the book is intriguing enough that I may try it in print, but I just couldn't get through it as an audio book. I stopped and started this book 3 times in the hopes that something would have changed, but nope, couldn't do it.
