Description
Brought to you by Penguin.
How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders? And how do you embed the value of courage in your culture?
Written and read by NYT best seller Brené Brown, Dare to Lead answers these questions and gives us actionable strategies and real examples from her new research-based, courage-building programme.
Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. This is an audiobook for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead.
When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that's necessary to do good work.
But daring leadership in a culture that's defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. The irony is that we're choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the same time we're scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines can't do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection and courage, to start.

So inspirational !
I will probably never totally get there (who will ?), but that definitely is the path to successful leadership. Practical tips provided are very useful, even though some are profoundly shaking my beliefs.
I'll have to read and practice over and over.
Only regret : some sentences fade out at the end, which makes them less easy to understand to a non American native in a car due to ambient noise.
Thanks Brené for this enlightning work !

In the right place at the right time
This is a book whose time has come. Victor Hugo said: All the forces in the world are not so powerful as an idea whose time has come.
In the current environment with political upheaval, it feels like the old system and structures are being irrevocably changed. In all this, we need leaders to guide us. Having said that I believe people have given up on leaders and often choosing the best from a bad bunch.
This book is truly an idea whose time has come. By being vulnerable and human; leaders can really inspire and motivate others for the tumultuous times that is only just starting.
If nothing else, this book has given me confidence in the processes I use to develop leaders. One part emotional intelligence mixed with two parts bravery plus some practical skills.
I have not read any of her previous books, but I dare you to read this one.

A mind-blowing mind shift
For any leader, person within a team or leading a team, parent, teacher, community leader, manager, business owner: this is, hands down, the best book you will ever read on being simultaneously vulnerably afraid and experiencing being brave and finding the best outcome. It is real, executable, well narrated and relevant. Your humans will love you for it.

audiobook conscious version spoken by the author
She (the author) is actually speaking to you being aware of the audio format - in contrast to merely reading the content. This makes for a way better experience in my opinion. :)

Vokabular anspruchsvoll!

Waste of time
Brené starts talking about vulnerability and wins a star immediately. Then she doesn't develop the subject. Instead she continues talking about herself, herself and more of herself. Then she talks about a person who talks about Brené, Brené, and more of Brené. I struggled to the chapter 4, then I gave up.
