Description
Brooks Hoffman, billionaire, loves women, expensive toys, and fighting - in that order. A week romancing a beautiful woman on his private island near Cozumel is a great way to pass the time. When Sydnee Lee Swenson isn’t impressed with his money, or charmed by his...well, charm, Brooks takes it as a personal challenge to change her mind.
Sydnee Lee moved to a small island to volunteer at the local orphanage. She’s fallen in love with the children and doesn’t need a good-looking, over-confident guy complicating things. Sending Brooks on his way, with just the right amount of sass, was her only option. But when Brooks puts his own life on the line for Sydnee and some of the orphaned children, she may have to take another look at the guy behind the muscles and money.

Awesome!
Do yourself a favor...if you are looking an exciting storyline to take you away with a little mystery, intriguing and clean romance.... Just purchase all the books written by author Cami Checketts. You will not be disappointed! (By the way, I do not know the author personally so you can trust this review. I gotta go pull her next one in this series. Happy Reading!)

I decided to give Cami another chance….
I appreciate a story without all the descriptive sex scenes, but I just couldn’t take the immature, adolescent writing style and utterly unbelievable storyline with no depth or substance. I’ve read a number of Cami’s books, or tried to read them, thinking I had maybe started with her early writings and hoping for better writing skills as she progressed. No such luck. The narrator did a fair job with what he had to work with but was over-the-top with the southern accent nor does he do very well with female voices.

The lead character is full of herself
I hate when an author uses religion to pad her books. The lead character is an awful person. She pushed herself above everybody else, and believes the one man that is being honest her is a liar. She’s the only Christian in this whole world. The story repeats, over and over.

The dumbest storyline ever! I couldn't even finish it. I don't recommend this book.

Boring
I use to like this particular narrator but I’ve been disappointed in the last few books I’ve purchased especially because of him. He gives a BLAH reading. I found the story to be a tad silly, not sure if it was because of the narrator. I didn’t finish.

Too controlling
I liked the setting of the book and the fact that the story was intertwined with the characters from book 1, but I wasn't a fan of the leading man. He was far too controlling and arrogant for my taste. I also don't like how the leading lady seems to question herself all the time after setting up boundaries that were very reasonable. That being said, the book was a bit cheesy but cute nonetheless. The narrator also did an excellent job! It's so nice to her a book read by a blk man! well done!

Awful! So creepy, corny & clichéd s/b satire!
Thete is so much to doslike about this book. It is absolutely ridiculous., sexist, with a big dollop of arm chair psychology thrown in. Every nuance is spoon fed to the reader there is nothing for us to infer, surmise, or conclude. Give us some respect please!
But Mostly I hated the MMC, who by definition was someone with a narcissistic personality disorder.Ugh he made me shudder... so arrogant, entitled disrespectful (calling a female acquaintance 'love' or 'my love' is so demeaning and is usually a habit that excuses him from remembering the woman's name)! I wanted to throw up how the author justified the kidnapping of this woman via threats of withholding his funding of her employment/ orphanage because he was hot, wealthy & deep depp deep down he was a good guy (?). Sorry but how she doesn't think this is the equivalent of being sold into human trafficking is baffling. She had no idea where she was going, who this guy was or what he or others could do to her once she arrived at the destination. The fact that he purposefully misled her was not cute or endearing it was disgusting and manipulative.
Like the other CC books the writing is ok but with this author I seem to love or detest her tomes. This one falls in the later category.
Here is what is wrong with them as a whole is the message they send to inexperienced women. 1) The message that men fall in love with beauty (at least first). NO! Sexual attraction is no love, for either partner. If a woman is average or below modern day definition of good looking these books teach them that no man of substance or seriousness will want them ... want to argue this point? In none of this author's books does one of them fall for the petson after getting to know them... it's always instant. True love irl comes with falling for a persons heart, personality, or spirit regardless if your loins stirred prior to knowing these. The message here is always those are secondary and irreverent for pursuing a conquest.
2) Attraction comes 1st never later. BULL! Wanting to give yourself to someone and show and accept true love through physical intimacy is attained after knowing someone. Not after just seeing them in a dress shop, or walking down the street. These books always have the order backward, i.e, I lust, I want, I conquer, then I get to know them. <--- this is an immature way of thinking about funding a life partner, spouce, soulmate!
3) The title 'Christian' is used as a get out of anything card. Each time the book centers around the Christian theme the man is a. hot, & insanely wealthy (as though one without the other is incontrovertible) b. the man is celibate, but wanting of physical intimacy because the woman's body is desirable not because he loves her, c. the man only gets serious with a woman who is currently chaste otherwise unworthy of such a man above. The problem is that there are tons of good men who are not 'Christians' and just as many devout Christians who give into passion and their sexual needs. Not all Christians are virgins or abstaining... the Duggars have proved that one. Love of a higher power doesn’t mean we don't sin... of couse Christians do, otherwise they wouldn't ever need / seek forgiveness- the definition of having Christ as your savior.
