À propos de ce contenu audio

When listening to the book, please ask children what they see and what they have found out about the longhorn cows.

After each part, you will hear the sound of a cow mooing. This is a prompt to go to the next part. Listen to the story over and over again. Children will begin to remember the words, learn new vocabulary and its meaning and gain an understanding of sequence.

Teaching young children about ecology and the environment will impart lessons that are beneficial to the rest of their lives. One of the best ways for children to learn about the environment is to experience it. Wherever you live, take your child outside into nature, whether it is in a local park or the wild outdoors; they can learn so much about nature from seeing it and being part of it.

This story encourages young children to find out about ecology through the movement of cows in an area in London called Chingford.

English Longhorn cows graze over the central area of Epping Forest, Chingford Plains. The cattle have been very successful in continuing their valuable conservation work by grazing the grassland and scrub areas. During Lockdown, the forest became very popular with the local and wider community and young families in particular developed an interest in the cows and wanted to know why they were there and what the purpose of their visits.
