Does your life suck? Need a helping hand?

When Shaun’s life continues to go from bad to worse, he is offered the chance to escape into an epic game world. One with the power to repair his mind and body while he lives out his wildest dreams.

    What could possibly go wrong?

It turns out fighting monsters and obesity is tough wherever you are! Then there’s the unrequited love. Weren’t the women supposed to fall head over heels with the hero? Not in Anatoli, a brutal and unforgiving land on the brink of apocalypse.

If Shaun can survive this very real experience, he might just get to be a hero back in the real world!

Not really sure how to feel about this one.

The story is.. Lame. Sure the premise is interesting. A therapy using a game world to kick addiction while Nanites or whatever repair your body.

Inside the game was.. Bland. It was made for a handful of people so it feels more like a co-op game instead of world were supposed to care about.

The ending inside the game was lackluster. Plus the romance was.. Off, somehow. Didn't come off as genuine to me. I never felt it, only heard about it.

The ending 'outside' the game was by far the most interesting thing about this book. Really, it made this book feel more like a pre-qual. I suspected some type of genetic manipulation based off the title. Somehow tied to the levels he got in game.

It turned out far more interesting than I was expecting. Honestly that ending is why this is 4 starts and not 3 or even 2. It took me by surprise, which is rare since this book is in the 800 range for me.

Even though there's Body shaming is show great po

He Hu those sorts off with some body shaming and real life side effects of that it too has grown into an interesting trapped in a game Also end up revealing some hidden great secrets about the universe at the end and set things that for the next book I didn't like the 1st parts of course but halfway through it did start to grow as a change from predictable having us and little twists hopefully it gets better in the next book

    good listeh

ok let's start by saying it was a pretty good book. as to some improvements if you could of made the book 2 hours longer then it would not of felt rushed. I feel that the advancement speed was to quick and that by just making the book sprawl out more that it would of made a huge difference. so long story short more fluff

    pleasantly surprised

I figured to give this book a try, and although there were some "too stood to live" moments it was well worth the listen. Also I'll just say the ending plot twist so hard it nearly broke my neck.

    Fun and interesting

I think that the beggining is slow but the book is gaining interest and have humour. The stats system is appropiate and the narrator is easy to understand even for not a native English listener.

    Absolutely Fantastic!!!

    Great story and narration!

Shaun's life sucks, but his world is about to change as he has just been invited to participate in a very secret virtual reality treatment plan. Finding himself trapped in a fantasy world for one year, he quickly gets captured by orks attacking a city. Now he must do everything he can to level up while avoiding the stew pot. Escape is his only option!

Christian does a wonderful job with the narration and really brings the characters to life!

I absolutely loved this story, and I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!
