Ethan Kane, guided by a Solakari clue from the Comanche Sky Altar, leads his party into the treacherous Chihuahuan desert in 1828, seeking the legendary Whispering Caves. They soon discover rivals: the ruthless Captain Rexford Gaines and his mercenaries are already scouring the mountains where the caves are hidden. To avoid them, Ethan’s group follows faint Rarámuri trails high into the sierras, where they encounter Sarita, an elusive young woman of the Tarahumara, who warns them the caves are sacred, haunted, and their whispers drive men to madness.

Undeterred, Ethan, Anawa, and Silas brave a perilous chasm crossing to reach the cave entrances. Inside the labyrinthine, sound-filled tunnels, they find Solakari engineering and grim evidence of past failed expeditions. Reaching a vast cavern housing a luminous crystalline pillar – the Solakari echo stone – they are confronted by Captain Gaines. The standoff escalates when Don Miguel de la Torre’s men attack Gaines, plunging the chamber into a three-way battle.

Amidst the chaos, Anawa produces a specific resonant tone, activating the echo stone. It reveals a luminous map fragment pointing towards a "sunken city of the serpent" in Sonora. As Gaines lunges for the secret, Sarita reappears, her flute unleashing a sonic shriek that triggers a catastrophic cave collapse. While their enemies are trapped or defeated, Sarita guides Ethan’s party through hidden passages to safety. They emerge with the vital Sonora clue, ready to face the next perilous leg of their quest for the Serpent’s Coil.
