Description

Frank W. Abagnale, alias Frank Williams, Robert Conrad, Frank Adams, and Robert Monjo, was one of the most daring con men, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was 21. Known by the police of 26 foreign countries and all 50 states as "The Skywayman", Abagnale lived a sumptuous life on the lam - until the law caught up with him.

Now recognized as the nation's leading authority on financial foul play, Abagnale is a charming rogue whose hilarious, stranger-than-fiction international escapades and ingenious escapes - including one from an airplane - make Catch Me If You Can an irresistible tale of deceit. It's also a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

Please note: This audiobook does not include the last portion of the physical book (epilogue).

This audio book is NOT COMPLETE, epilogue missing!

What would have made Catch Me If You Can better?

I'm trying to get Audible's attention.
This audio book ends abruptly missing the end of the last chapter and the epilog.

DO NOT BUY THIS AUDIBLE BOOK!

Veryy entertaining but Cut Short

I enjoyed this book immensly. Mr. Abignale Weaves a wonderful story that traces his life as a brilliant "paper hanger." I learned some things I never knew. His ability to create relationships and trust is truly amazing. He has a very keen mind and it was a pleasure to watch it work. The only problem I had with the book was a premature ending. I was left hanging.

Really entertaining!

This is very entertaining title and Barry Whitener does an incredible job narrating. Barry does the voices and acting so well you forget there's only one person performing.

Great Story - Who Stole The Ending?

Catch Me If You Can, made into a movie a few years ago with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, was my first introduction to the story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. This is "truth is stranger than fiction" at its finest and one of my most enjoyable listens from audible. My only problem with it is the ending. Spoilled by the movie, which details his time with the FBI and then, in the ending credits, talks about his subsequent consulting work helping combat check fraud for banks and businesses, the audio book doesn't get into any of that, but ends very abruptly - like many of Abagnale's alter-ego lives. Still very enjoyable and highly recommended with very good narration.

Read the book AND watch the movie

What a great story. Truely it must be read to be believed. The only thing that I didn't like was the long time spent on his time in the French jail. That was brutal. The rest of the story was very light and whimsical. That part was disturbing. Also, I think the ending leaves a very different impression than the ending of the movie, so for closure see the movie, for the details, enjoy this wonderful story - truth is stranger than fiction!

Good, but ends suddenly

I liked it, but the sudden ending and lack of any epilogue was a bit jarring.

Amazing true story

I thoroughly enjoyed the telling of this sport span of white collar crime in a person so young. It is truly unbelievable that a mere teenager could have pulled off so much and fooled so many. The narrator kept my attention throughout. Although I had already viewed the film, I found the book so much more entertaining. If you saw the movie and liked it, I recommend that you follow up your experience with this book.

Much better than the movie!

The movie is very loosely based on this book - and this book is far better. I enjoyed listening to this book more than any others I've listened to in a while. The only criticism I have is that the ending seems rather sudden. Interestingly, Mr. Abagnale never reveals the name of the university he taught at in the book. In the bonus material for the movie, though, he does - Brigham Young University. As a former BYU student myself, and one that still lives in the area, I found that part of the book especially interesting.

Way to go, Kid?

Breezy, fascinating story of an amoral teenager duping the adult world and enjoying *almost* every moment of it. (The French prison portion is harrowing.) No surprise: better than the movie. Reader is excellent. Well worth it.

Interessante Geschichte

Ein sehr schönes Hörbuch über das Leben von Frank Abagnale, nur schade, dass der Epilog fehlt
