Description
For someone who didn't intend to wreck the solar system's fragile balance of power, Jim Holden did a pretty good job of it. While Earth and Mars have stopped shooting each other, the core alliance is shattered. The outer planets and the Belt are uncertain in their new - possibly temporary - autonomy.
Then, on one of Jupiter's moons, a single super-soldier attacks, slaughtering soldiers of Earth and Mars indiscriminately and reigniting the war. The race is on to discover whether this is the vanguard of an alien army or if the danger lies closer to home.
Commentaires
"This breakneck tale will have readers itching for book three." (Publishers Weekly)
"Great characters, excellent dialogue, memorable fights, freakish experiments, and twisty-turny mysteries... Only an excellent book series can pull them all off, and the Expanse will definitely be added to the shortlist of science fiction tales that manage to do so" (Wired.com)
"Those who enjoyed the first book will enjoy Caliban's War as much, if not more... A crackingly enjoyable read." (SFF World)

Great sci-fi at its best
After watching the first two seasons of The Expanse on Netflix I started to listen to the audiobooks and they are way better. Always nice to have a mental image of the characters though.
This book diverts quite a lot from season two but it's not that shooting. Not sure if I should go on and watch the third season though or just settle for Audible.
Story is great and I love how it develops and I will continue to listen to her next book straight away!

Great second part of the series
Enjoying the The Expanse Series! Another good part of it done.
I would recommend reading something else in between every part. Otherwise I feel like it’s a little too slow?

Better than the first
The story was just as terrific as the first book but the narrator got alot better. in the first book he was atrocious, monotone and dry and using the same voice for everyone. Now in book two he have gotten more life in his voice and started to use different vocalisations for the characters so you actually can hear who is talking to who.

Caliban’s War improves over Leviathan story and narration wise
This has been an engaging listen. The different characters come with identifiable voices, The story also gets better.

Absolutely amazing!
The depth of the world and the characters. The intricacy and lack of redundancy in the plot devices, the details for each extremely different point of view exudes significant knowledge. A stunning job all around. Prax's chapters were amazing and Avasrala's were hilarious.

I couldn't put it down
Fascinating story with great performance. It was a bit slow but speeding up by 10% made it just perfect for me.

A true masterwork
the book is not far from the tv serie, the tv serie is good and thus by elimination if say the book is a masterwork. i fully believe that everyone should hear this saga or read it for that matter.

No boring moments, allround great stuff
Firstly, I'd like to point out that the narration is better than in the first book. And, is suppose partly due to my having heard the characters in the show, the narrator is really good at recreating the voices of key characters.
Secondly, I did care much more about the crew than I did watching the show.

Better than the first book
Basically a SCI-FI TV series that one can listen to while walking.
The amazing performance/interpretation of Amos and Avasarala alone makes it worth the listen.
Now that we are talking about Caliban, may I interest you in a read/watch/listen of The Tempest, by Willian Shakespeare?
Now that we are talking about Caliban and science fiction, may I interest you in a read/listen of Ilium and Olympos by Dan Simmons?
;)

Super Buch.

Great sequel
"Caliban´s War" is a great Si-Fi novel and a clear improvement on "Leviathan Wakes". More interesting, very memorable characters (esp. Roberta "Bobby" Draper) that are a clear improvement on the cast of the first novel, less B Movie nonsense (almost no vomit Zombies etc.) leading to a more believable plot, and a wider look at the solar system with a good part of the story taking place on Earth. I´d have rated Leviathan Wakes at 3,5, this is more 4,5. The Audiobooks´s speaker does a flawless job, giving every character an unmistakable feel, no easy job considering how different they are.

SF at its finest
Never been captured so intence by a Novel. The whole story is so tense, so well thought through and compelling written, even in the smallest details of futured living in deep space, you could get in mind, the author had been there... can't wait to get through all books and start over again ;)

If you liked the first one, you will love this one. More politics, more humour and the story really starts to expand in focus. great read!

well told sequel
The alien entities take a backseat to human politics in the second book, with the character of Avasarala giving us a look behind the scenes in the highest levels of Power on earth and in the solar system, and Praxidi showing the desperation of a man fighting for his family in a time of war and crisis. the main characters of the first book return, and get the additional development they deserve. The ending is satisfying, but also gives you a cliffhanger exciting you for what comes next.
