    Description

The third in the hilarious yet sizzling-hot Hudson Valley series from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Alice Clayton.

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she's never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she's fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She's especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can't-get-enough-of hot cross buns....

Archie Bryant, the man with the buns, is fifth generation and one-day owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He's determined to save his family's legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way - by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There's no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn 150 years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara's ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can't deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

    It's sticky; it's messy; it's sweet; it's Buns.

Another fun Rom Com by Alice Clayton. This book wasn't my favorite in the series but I still enjoyed it. I loved Archie, he was so proper most of the time but Clara got to him he was funny and sexy. Clara was also a great character, I liked how she was so independent but I also didn't like how she let that distance her from everyone. The chemistry between this two was lacking for me. I felt like they spent more time fighting a relationship than they spent having one. I loved how their friends in town came around a few times and gave that warm fuzzy small town feeling.

The narration was great. Elizabeth Louise narrated all but the epilogue. I enjoy both of these narrators.

    Narrorator makes it difficult

After reading Cream of the Crop, I was excited about this next book in the series but I can not get past the narrorator.

    Not for me

The narrator killed it for me. I tried my best to stay engaged, but it ended up being background noise for me.

More like flatbread. "See what I did there?" :)

What did you like best about Buns? What did you like least?

As always, I loved checking in with characters from previous books within this series... and what a treat to see a few of my favorites from other series!

While I liked Clara and Archie, individually, I didn't really buy into their chemistry (seemed a little more hate/hate in the beginning rather than love/hate).

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was predictable, but okay. Would have enjoyed a little more in the epilogue.

What three words best describe Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter ’s voice?

    Solid... enjoyable...non-distracting

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Only if it were a movie of the entire series, not just this one book.

    Any additional comments?

As usual, Alice had me laughing out loud. While this was probably my least favorite in the series, still found the cast of characters and their interactions delightful and entertaining. Unfortunately, the conflict between the main characters just didn't work for me and the resolution was just a little flat for me. But, I sure hope we get another trip to the Hudson Valley.

    Want to Bite Those Buns

What did you love best about Buns?

I love this entire series and this was no different. I loved the humor, seeing old characters return, and the uptight guy relax. What is in the water there? I feel like I need to take a trip to the Catskills.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I adore Clara, but I cannot forget about Roxie and Natalie.

What does Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Many people did not like the narrator, but I loved her. I thought she seemed cute like the character. I read this book as an ARC before, and I got even more of a fun picture with the narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Buns... Get Ready, They're Hot, They're Tasty, They're Available All Hours. Come Take A Bite.

    Any additional comments?

    Please, let there be more!

    3.5 Buns Stars

Hmm Ok I think I wanted to like this story more than I did.
I loved Archie, you can’t help but feel for him. And Clara is a likable girl don’t get me wrong.

But I think waiting for her to open up just took too long.
She expected Archie to just word vomit all his secrets and feelings but she keeps her all bottled up.

And believe me I get why, it just kinda of felt like she could have opened up a lot faster than having to wait till the last chapter.

I did like the back and forth with these characters and we get to see some of our favorites from books past yaya!
    That’s always fun for me.

I just I don’t know maybe I was expecting more. Over all I enjoyed the story and the characters.

And the narration is fantastic they both bring this story to life in a way that made me want to keep reading.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Difficult staying engaged with this narrator

The story was good, but the narrator was just ok. She narrated Clara’s character well enough, but ugh… the male character’s were difficult to get through.. like she was reading the parts sarcastically or something.. I don’t know. The men were all read very flat and boring, like it was forced, especially the dirty talk.

Witty Rom-Com at Bryant Mountain House

Buns is the third (and final so far) book in the Hudson Valley series. It can be read as a stand-alone book but read them all because they are amazing. The couples from the first two books make appearances is this story. Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter read this story from a dual point of view, and represent both the hero and heroine very well.

Clara is an independent, ball busting, hotel rebranding, tell it like it is heroine. She was raised in foster care and has few needs for home and hearth. She does love to run and she loves her job which she is so successful at she might get a nice promotion for rebranding Bryant Mountain House successfully.

Archie is a fifth generation Bryant running their hotel. He loves the look, feel, traditions and guests of Bryant Mountain House. He has to admit business is down off season. His Dad has hired a city girl to make rebranding suggestions for their hotel. Clara knows nothing about the Hudson Valley area, Bryant Mountain House or the generations of families who come back annually and Archie has known all of his life. How can she have so many ideas that will change so much about the home and business he loves?

This enemies to lovers book has humor, self-evaluation and a few surprises thrown in. You will find yourself cheering for Clara and Archie and the changes they need to undergo to be a couple. Also for the success of Bryant Mountain House and all its charms.

    Nice read but

not the hot sexy story like the first two books. Shame. I did expect more.
