Description

Sir Aubrey Tabor began with the most altruistic of motives. When the Brundys' seaside wedding trip is interrupted by a young woman claiming to be Mr. Brundy's sister, Sir Aubrey promises to do what he can in order to relieve his friend of an imposter whose presence poses a threat to marital bliss. But golden-haired Polly proves to be more than a match for Sir Aubrey, and with each encounter, he finds himself thinking less of his friend's honeymoon, and more about having one of his own.

Sir Aubrey’s tale & more of the Bundys!

Any additional comments?

For those of you, like me, who couldn’t get enough of the Bundys in “The Weaver Takes A Wife” their tale continues here as they attempt to embark on their honeymoon in Brighton. However this is ostensibly the tale of Sir Aubrey trying to rid the Bundys of Polly, a somewhat unwelcome house guest and how he goes about accomplishing that feat. Once again, we have a rollicking good time, this time in Brighton and the surrounds instead of London and have Prinny thrown in for good measure! It’s a Regency isn’t it? I loved it and only wished there was a third book to continue the stories. Thanks to the author for providing me with a free audiobook for my unbiased opinion. I’ve read the print copy, as well, and think I enjoyed the audio even more!

4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, the characters are engaging, the story line is solid and it's well executed. The blurb that comes with the book doesn't do it justice.

There was a fair bit of drama in the story but it's very well done and does not come across as manufactured, rather it just seems to fit. The same can be said when there are misunderstandings between the characters.

Polly is a charming character, her naivete and her determination mix together well to create a very likable woman that you can't help but connect with.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The narration was well done with good character voices and a smooth and natural delivery.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Next in the Ethan Brundy Series

About four months ago, Ethan Brundy saw Lady Helen Radney at a theatre performance and fell hard. Lady Helen's father, deep in debt, accepts a financial settlement from Ethan in exchange for her hand. At first, Helen resents her rich merchant, former mill worker husband. But soon she sees his character.

Now, Ethan and Lady Helen are getting ready for their seaside honeymoon in Brighton. A redheaded young lady shows up at their home claiming to be his long-lost sister. Lady Helen takes in Polly immediately and invites her on their trip, but Ethan is suspicious. Ethan asks his friend Sir. Aubrey to accompany them as well and keep an eye on her. Soon, Sir. Aubrey sees there's more to Polly than meets the eye.

I love Sherri Cobb South's regency romances. She combines likable, multifaceted characters with mystery and clever humor. Her novels are clean romances. ( I'll put it this way - I'm comfortable recommending her books my 70-year-old mother.)

It took me awhile to warm up to Polly because of her deception. And, at first glance, Sir. Aubrey seems to be a bored, unmotivated young lord with an overbearing mother. However, I liked them more as I got to know them. (Like Ethan, there's more to them than meets the eye!) The mismatched societal rankings are an interesting part of these stories.

Ethan and Lady Helen continue to shine! I love how Ethan stands up to Sir. Aubrey's sniping mother without being mean-spirited. Lady Helen shows deep levels of kindness and compassion.

Overall, a well written historical romance with lovely characters and a satisfying ending.

This book can be read as a standalone novel.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

another winner by Sheri Cobb South

I have found this Weaver series by Sheri Cobb South to scratch the Regency itch long ago created by Georgette Heyer. I am so glad I found this author. Her light, clean period plots are satisfying as a romance should be.

A wonderful sequel.

I adore this author's style and loved the first in this series. So I was thrilled when the momentum continued with Book 2. Here we still have our anchor couple of Lady 'Elen and Mr. Brundy. Poor Polly tries to pass herself off as his sister, while searching for the "well-born" father her mother had spoken of before she died. She did not mean to interrupt Mr. Brundy's honeymoon. She did not mean to fall in love with his friend, Sir Aubrey, who is out to discover her secret. This couple stole my heart, and continued the love affair of the mismatched duke's daughter and the weaver. Noah Michael Levine does a spot on job in the narration.

A worthy sequel

3.5 stars

Brighton Honeymoon was a worthy follow-up to The Weaver Takes a Wife, but not quite so disarming. It's charms weren't enough to keep me from occasional annoyance at the cliche Regency tropes (deception, silly misunderstandings). It was a delight to encounter Lady Helen and her Mr. Brundy again.

Yes Please!!!!

I finished book one in this series and jumped right away into book two. Loved it!!!!

We are a few months into the Brundy's marriage and they've finally made plans for a honeymoon. Plans go awry with the presence of Ethan's "sister" but Lord Tabor has it all well at hand. Sort of.

The author penned a great story with a lot of wonderful happenings. Through it all, there is this not-to-be-missed narration. I've already listened to book three (Loved!) so on to book four.

Sweet and fun

Audiobook: Narrator - Noah Michael Levine

I love this narrator. He’s done an awesome job of these characters and while this one isn’t as entertaining as the first book I still enjoyed it. No trouble discerning character’s voices or following along. And, another awesome listen to Ethan Brundy’s accent! Swoon!

This was so sweet and cute! Loved that we got to watch Ethan as he tries to steal some time away from everyone to spend with his wife but watching Sir Aubry and Polly match wits was incredibly fun and entertaining. Poor Aubry, he had his hands quite full with Polly and her innocent ways. Loved this couple!

Brighton honeymoon

This was another good one. Ethan was delightful as in the first one. I just can’t get enough of his character, however, since this one was about Polly and Aubry I have to say that the story was enjoyable but lacked a bit for me but overall it was a good book.

Too many implausibilities

Too many actions taken by characters are so implausible that it makes the story difficult to believe. I only finished it because I was on a road trip. Most obvious example: taking in and aiding in adventuress who claims to be your non-existent sister? That's the main plot and we are expected to accept it. Give me a break. I wish I could've given it a 1.5 star.

Screwball-comedy

Not quite as good as the first part. Story far-fetched but still very entertaining.. Excellent narrator with very pleasant, versatile voice.
