Description
"Listening to Grover Gardner narrating a David Rosenfelt novel is like sliding into favorite slippers at the end of a long day: One feels the joyful gratification of a perfect fit." (AudioFile)
The next audiobook in David Rosenfelt’s witty, heartfelt mystery series featuring lawyer Andy Carpenter and his faithful golden retriever, Tara.
When defense lawyer Andy Carpenter’s veterinarian asks to speak to him privately at the checkup of his golden retriever, Tara, the last thing Andy expects is Truman. Tiny, healthy French bulldog Truman was dropped off days ago with instructions to be euthanized by a man everyone thought was his owner. But now the owner is nowhere to be found.
Andy is furious. Who would want to euthanize a perfectly healthy dog with no explanation? He is willing to whisk Truman away to the Tara Foundation, the dog-rescue organization which is Andy’s true passion. They will find a home for Truman. But that’s not all the vet tells Andy. Thanks to Truman’s chip, it’s discovered that the man wasn’t Truman’s owner at all.... Truman's real owner was murdered.
It’s now up to Andy - with help from his loyal sidekick Tara, Truman, and the rest of the gang - to solve this case. In the latest in the popular Andy Carpenter mystery series, David Rosenfelt’s charmingly clever wit and love of dogs are back and better than ever.

Another Andy Carpenter Delight
My husband and I discovered the Andy Carpenter series about 5 years ago and have enjoyed listening to all 19 books! Grover Gardner's voice, inflections, and comedic delivery perfectly match each character's personality. David Rosenfelt is masterful at presenting mysteries that unfold predictably but are still intelligent and with credibly happy endings. And whether you're a fan of dogs, especially golden retrievers, or not, you will love Tara and her role as Andy's most important advisor. Do yourself a favor and read Rosenfelt's stories. You may start anywhere in the series because Andy will catch you up on any of the details and people that populate every book. Enjoy!

Cannot put it down
great book like all his books are. You are going to love this book just like all of his other books. You don't need to read them in order but I do suggest it so you understand certain situations. Have fun reading of listening on audible or reading and listening like I do. Hope you like it as much as I do. I cannot get enough of his books. Now into the next one, oh shoot the next one comes out in late 2019.

QOD
law-enforcement, lawyers, family, friendship, murder, snark-fest
***** Andy Carpenter is the snarkiest un lawyer you'll ever meet. His greatest fans are dogs, his wife, and his son. Wife is a private investigator and former homicide lieutenant with lots of connections, Andy is a defense lawyer who (sort of) picks his cases, hates going to court, and always wins for the good guys (his clients). The publisher's blurb is pretty good and sets up the early part of the story, but it's hard to say more without doing the spoiler thing. Whether you've read any of the earlier books or not, you can't miss with this one. But I have to warn you, I read a fairly recent one and promptly headed off to get the rest!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from St Martin's Press/Minotaur Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
That was in May, today I received my pre-order with Grover Gardner!

Great story as usual
I’ve loved all the Andy Carpenter books and this is no exception. There is always a good mystery along with some humor and a glimpse into the workings of the legal system. Andy is one of my all time favorite characters. Grover Gardner’s narration is perfect.

A Good Story
Good story line with just enough mystery. I enjoyed the story and the humor.
