Description
New York Times best-selling author Jen Sincero gets to the core of transformation: habits - breaking, making, understanding, and sticking with them like you've never stuck before.
Badass Habits is a eureka-sparking, easy-to-digest look at how our habits make us who we are, from the measly moments that happen in private to the resolutions we loudly broadcast (and, erm, often don't keep) on social media.
Habit busting and building goes way beyond becoming a dedicated flosser or never showing up late again - our habits reveal our unmet desires, the gaps in our boundaries, our level of self-awareness, and our unconscious beliefs and fears. Badass Habits features Jen's trademark hilarious voice and offers a much-needed fresh take on the conventional wisdom and science that shape the optimism (or pessimism?) around the age-old topic of habits.
The book includes enlightening interviews with people who've successfully strengthened their discipline backbones, new perspective on how to train our brains to become our best selves, and offers a simple, 21-day, step-by-step guide for ditching habits that don't serve us and developing the habits we deem most important.
Habits shouldn't be impossible to reset - and with healthy boundaries, knowledge of - and permission to go after - our desires, and an easy to implement plan of action, we can make any new goal a joyful habit.
Commentaires
“Sincero brings a fun, feminine verve to now well-tread self-help tropes… The tone is far more feisty than academic, and there's humor on every page, all of which is exactly what her intended audience most needs."
–Publishers Weekly
"Sincero writes in a conversational, witty tone that actually makes self-improvement sound fun."

Not Jen's best but worth a listen
If you're planning on buying this book, I suggest you buy Bad Ass (yellow) or Bad Ass at Making Money (green). Jen is a master storyteller. Her books are fun and funny. This one just didn't have me laughing or feeling like I was having ahah moments repeatedly. I gave it four stars for the story. Her other books I give a big five stars.

A good extension of the brand
I still love Sincero’s first entry in this series, “You Are a Badass.” I found it to be a really refreshing take on self-help and the Law of Attraction. I’ve stayed with her writings since then, picking up most of her new entries in that same series. That brings me to this one.
While it doesn’t break a ton of new ground, in general, it fits her brand and personality well and ties together some of the lessons put forth in her previous books. As the title suggests, this one is all about habits. Here, Sincero details how we can make new ones, why we don’t always follow through with desired behaviors, and what we can do to better set ourselves up with habit creation.
Throughout the narrative, she talks about mantras, beliefs, and identity shifts. Those things, in my mind, were all strong complements to the subject at hand and helped the reader make better sense of what she was discussing.
By the end, one should fully understand the ins and outs of habit formation and see some of the mistakes he or she made in the past in regard to getting aspirational habits to stick. It’s a good read and one that extends the brand well. I just could’ve done without her “feel it, see it, love it, believe it” mantra being repeated ad nauseam.

A physical copy would have gotten 5/5
I read this as an audiobook.
Jen is brilliant at her delivery in all of her books.
However, given how the book is meant to be used - day by day - I found it challenging to follow as an audiobook.
I also didn't find it as inspiring as her first few books.
This might be because I've been reading more books in the topic of habit development, hence many of her points seemed...familiar.
I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for advice on habit development.
Jen is a wonderful writer and coach. I find her approach delightfully inspirational and manageable.
I will be investing in a physical copy in the near future.

Just read the damn book
This author is hilarious and hands you down easy, bite size ways to lock in great habits.
There is no self promotion, pushes to get coaching, nothing. She just hands you the tools she has found to be most helpful in becoming the Badass she is today.
And she does it in a way that makes you laugh and look at thing from a different perspective. And that is really the goal. To shift the mind to a new viewpoint where anything is achieved one habit at a time.
Well done 🙌👏

Helpful for absolute newbies, too basic for the rest
I’ve read other books on habits and I found this to be mostly fluff. Her advise isn’t wrong, but they’re just very basic tips that are better as Instagram posts than put together in a book. And after having listened to her other books, her humour is getting a bit tired. I think this would be helpful for those who are just starting to learn about habits and how to build them. Otherwise, I would refer people to other books that are grounded on behavioural science, such as Atomic Habits.

So funny!
I liked that Cicero did her own narration, narrated with funny thoughts that I’ve had and kept it light. Good pandemic listening. The most helpful sound bite-when she talks about remembering your desires to break a habit.

Not as good as I thought
Her other book “you are a badass” was much better, many of her examples seemed to be straight from a sitcom. I just couldn’t get into it.

Everyone needs a blunt friend like Jen Sincero
I’ve always hated books talking about the power of habits, and never really knew why. This book is a refreshing take on how you should center around your identity and the habits will follow. I especially love the chapter at the end when Jenn talks about how society treats habits in ways that are fear-based and shameful. I will be using this book again and again as a way to evolve in the kindest and most compassionate way possible. Thank you for keeping it real and funny all at the same time.
