With war in the village and strife at home, can Elin find hope?

Elin is trying to make ends meet, trapped in an abusive marriage with her alcoholic husband, Cai. The country is at war but the men in the village must stay and work in the mines. Conditions are bad and Cai is not afraid of speaking out.

With his job in danger, shortages from the war and three hungry children to feed, Elin must use her wits to try and keep the wolf from the door. Her only support is their lodger Dylan, who tries to support Elin and protect her from Cai as much as he can.

But when Cai is involved in a dreadful accident, will Elin be able to survive?
