À propos de ce contenu audio
Part one of this memoir series takes place in China and follows the authors life from childhood into her late thirties. She was born at the end of the Cultural Revolution, growing up in a country still shaped by tradition, change, and unspoken expectations. She is a sensitive, observant girl, learning early how to stay quiet, adapt, and understand what is left unsaid. As she grows into adulthood, love becomes something she both longs for and struggles withoffering hope at times, but also bringing repeated disappointment. At one point in her early adult life, she goes through a deeply painful relationship that leaves a lasting mark on her emotionally. Later, she enters her first marriage to an abusive partner, and over time, the relationship becomes a cycle of emotional pain, betrayal, and endurance. In a culture where responsibility often comes before personal voice, she finds herself holding everything together on the outside while slowly breaking down inside. At the same time, she builds a successful career in China. But underneath, her real feelings, her creativity, and her deeper sense of self are slowly pushed asideburied under expectation, pressure, and simply trying to get through life.Even so, she never fully lets go of her desire to understand life, love, and herself. She keeps going the only way she knows how, by surviving what she cannot yet change, and trying to find meaning in the middle of it all.Part one doesnt end with answers. It ends at a breaking point, where leaving becomes the only way forward, even though she doesnt yet know what she is walking toward.©2026 Menglan H. (P)2026 Menglan H.
