The Vegas Golden Knights (9-5-1) fell to the New Jersey Devils (9-5-0) on Nevada Day at T-Mobile Arena.
Luke Hughes opened the scoring for New Jersey early in the first period, but Vegas responded with two goals in a 1:30 span. Mark Stone deflected Mitch Marner’s shot just six seconds into a power play to tie the game, and Ivan Barbashev finished a passing play from Marner and Brayden McNabb to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. Arseny Gritsyuk answered less than a minute later to send the teams into the first intermission tied 2-2.
Jack Hughes put New Jersey back in front early in the second period before Gritsyuk added his second of the night to make it 4-2. Hughes scored his second goal into an empty net in the third, sealing a 5-2 Devils victory.
