They bring us back from the dead, hand us a daily 25-word lifeline, and point us at a dwarven mining outpost like it’s a routine errand. Then the teleport drops us into a dusty broom closet, our dice immediately betray us, and Hammerhelm starts looking less like a waypoint and more like a warning sign carved into stone.
We follow the commotion outside and get swept into a full-on raid as troglodyte-like creatures surge up from the tunnels. We talk through positioning, spell choices, and what it feels like when the battlefield literally smells dangerous. Chaos Bolt flies, Eldritch Blast thuds into scaled bodies, and a clutch crit with Wrathful Smite reminds everyone that this campaign has real teeth. When the dust settles, we shift from fighting to triage, stabilizing wounded dwarves and trying to understand why these attacks are happening more often.
The mystery hook tightens when we spot the collars: black stone, spotless clean, etched with dwarven-style runes that do not match Dwarvish. Lorna lays out what she knows about Underdark factions, why none of the obvious suspects fit, and what lies on the mapped route toward Glimmerfall. We take a short rest, reset what we can, and step into the travel game with encounter rolls, pace decisions, and the kind of environmental hazard that can end an adventure faster than any monster: a collapsed path opening into a 50-foot gorge.
If you love Dungeons and Dragons actual play, Underdark exploration, and mystery breadcrumbs that feel earned, subscribe, share this episode with a friend, and leave us a review. What do you think those collars are really for?
