In this message from the ROOTED series, we continue our journey by thinking about what it means to be ROOTED IN OBEDIENCE.

It’s possible to know about Jesus, read the Bible, pray and gather with His people, yet never fully put our faith into practice. But following Jesus means more than simply knowing what He taught. It means allowing His words to shape the way we live.

In John 14, Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” And in James, we are reminded to be doers of the Word, and not merely hearers. Christian obedience isn't about earning God's love or trying to be perfect. It's about responding to the love and grace we have already received through Jesus Christ.

But obedience isn't always easy. Sometimes it means forgiving someone, letting go of control, stepping out in faith or doing something we'd rather avoid. Yet God's commands aren't there to restrict us, but to lead us into the freedom we were created for.

So this week we ask a simple but challenging question: What is God asking me to do right now?

Because when we are rooted in Christ, our faith begins to move from our heads into our hands, and what we believe begins to shape how we live. Obedience is love in action.

📖 Key Text: John 14:15–18; James 1:22–25 🌱 Theme: Discovering what it means to follow Jesus through obedience 🎧 Takeaway: We don't obey to earn God's love. We obey in response to the love we've already received, taking one step at a time as we learn to trust and follow Jesus.
