Episode Notes:
Welcome to today’s episode, where we step into the very heart of Aristotle’s philosophy. If our first episode introduced us to the man, and our double header last time trained our minds in the tools of clear thinking, then today’s episode is where Aristotle finally asks the question he believes lies beneath every other question:
What does it mean… to be?
Not “What is this thing?” Not “How does it work?” Not “What is it made of?”
But the deeper, more fundamental question: What does it mean for anything to exist at all?
In this episode, we’ll explore:
· Substance — Aristotle’s answer to “What is a thing?”
· Form and matter — the two principles that make something what it is
· Potentiality and actuality — Aristotle’s brilliant way of explaining change
· The Four Causes — his framework for understanding why anything exists
· The Unmoved Mover — the ultimate explanation behind all being
