A very wise, very rich king went looking for what makes life worth living. He looked everywhere under the sun. This is his notebook, in words a five-year-old can follow.
Ecclesiastes Like I'm Five walks through all twelve chapters of the strangest book in the Bible the way you'd explain it to a kid on your lap. No skipping the hard parts. "I hated life," the same thing happening to everyone, the courtroom with cheating in it, the old man who has everything and can't enjoy any of it - they're all here, in pictures a child already understands: a soap bubble, a merry-go-round, a rope with three strands, a dull axe, a dead fly in the perfume.
Each chapter opens with a one-sentence summary for the kid, then a short read-aloud that takes about three minutes. Big words like vanity, wisdom, and fear God are kept and explained the moment they show up. The book's last sentence is handed to the listener on page one, so the long search has somewhere to land.
For parents, grandparents, and Sunday-school teachers who want their kids to meet the real Ecclesiastes early, and for grown-ups who could use it explained simply too.
