Description

An Amazon Charts bestseller.

Inside a prestigious law firm, a rookie lawyer is pulled into a dark maze of lies and violence.

An ambitious Stanford graduate, David Adams has begun a fast-track career at Austin’s most prestigious law firm. It’s a personal victory for the rising superstar - a satisfying reversal from his impoverished and despairing childhood. Now he has the life he’s always wanted: an extravagant salary, a high-rise condo, a luxury SUV, and no limit to how far he can go in the eyes of the top partners.

But after the shocking suicide of a fellow associate - one who, in his final hours, offered David an ominous warning - he feels the pull of powerful forces behind the corporation’s enviable trappings. The suicide leads unexpectedly to David’s discovery of a secret enclave of the city’s homeless, where he can’t help but feel an affinity to these outcast souls. Nor can he ignore the feeling that they hold the key to the truth behind a dark conspiracy.

When one of his new street friends is murdered, David’s clear doubts about his employer start shifting into a dark reality. Now torn between two worlds, David must surrender all that he’s achieved to fight for a larger cause of justice - and become his firm’s most dangerous acquisition.

Fantastic!

I’m so sorry to have finished this book so soon. I think this book could easily have been a little longer with a little more detail, actions and reactions to the various situations. The is also a dark secret that is getting people killed. You don’t get to find out what that is until the end which is a good thing but some of the murders associated with it are only mentioned rather then detailed.
All in all I thought this was a wonderful story. It felt to me like there was a little bit of Grisham’s influence and parts that reminded me of THE FIRM.
Christopher Ryan Grant does a great job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A very special novel!!

Audible' return policy removes all financial risk from purchasing an audio book. AN EQUAL JUSTICE is a novel that everyone should listen to. As Audible listener Shelley indicates in her review this book ends to quickly; it is too short! But the story is one the reader/listener will not soon forget. Just get AN EQUAL JUSTICE!

Equal justice

I am enjoying this book in the midst of the 2020 Covid-19 epidemic. In the backdrop of current events the misfortunes of people leading to homelessness, and struggle as in this book is more real and it is impossible to ignore the humanity towards this world and humble surving rather than a desire to enrich one self at the expense of others.

A whirlwind start for a fledgling attorney

David Adams gets his dream job and that will give him all the things and perks he's hoped to attain but he also gets more than he bargained for. A series of curious events will pull him into the underbelly of Austin and have him questioning everything he thought he wanted out of life. I love short chapters that keep me listening well beyond the point I intended to stop. Will look for the next in the series!
Grant's narration, although a bit straight forward, was fine for this book.

Soapbox

Story wasn’t bad but I don’t enjoy a writer with social issues. Won’t be listening to any more of his books even though legal thrillers are my favorites.

The New John Grisham?

The writer and the book remind me of the books John Grisham wrote back in the days of "The Firm" and other earlier novels.
I highly recommend this book. The character, "David" is well done and the setting of Austin is great.
I have already added the second book in the series to my library.

Good story

Refreshing to read and listen to a good story. Makes you think about the 2 worlds if rich and poor. Wish this book had a book 2.

Excellent Story

This book was really, really, really good. If you read John Grisham novels, you may think you already know the story line based on the description - but you don't. It's fast paced and when you get to the end, you want to hear more. I will be recommending this to all of my friends who have audible subscriptions and even to the ones who don't.

Great book, even greater moral

The plot was excellent, great legal suspense to grab your attention and never let go. Best of all this story has heart. It brings awareness to the life of our fellow human beings who happen to find themselves living "on the streets." All around fantastic book.

very entertaining and thought provoking story

Loved this book! The characters are richly defined and easy to care about. This book tells a story about how a homeless man and a young attorney become friends and how they each enhanced the other's life. I always enjoy a book that quickly develops the story without giving away the end. Since I live just north of Austin, I loved the details about the city! Looking forward to book 2. Thanks Chad!
