    Description

Book three in the collaboration between the creator of the multiple New York Times best-selling Monster Hunter series, Larry Correia; and best-selling science fiction author Mike Kupari. The Dead Six series is an inventive and action-packed military adventure series with a touch of conspiracy and a big dollop of descriptive firepower!

Europe has spiraled into chaos. A conspiracy years in the making combined with general unrest led to upheaval and revolution. In the midst of the murderous disorder, mercenary Michael Valentine is in Europe with a small team of his Exodus personnel, trying to track down the evil and highly dangerous Katarina Montalban. She has initiated a mysterious plot to do away with those who stand between her and ultimate power. The team is on their own, with few friends and few resources - and racing against the clock. Both Valentine and Lorenzo will have to risk some dangerous alliances if they're to succeed. Meanwhile, Valentine's friend, one-time enemy, and sometime partner, Hector Lorenzo, finds himself in a dungeon owned by Asian drug lord Sala Jihan. He must make a deal that may lead him to cross paths with Valentine again. If two of the most effective killers in existence hunt, even the pandemonium in Europe may be just the first act in an orgy of destruction.

Solid End to a Solid Series

SUMMARY: I think this one is as good as the first two, and it wraps up the series nicely (with room for more), so if you read the others, you should pick it up.

I've listened to nearly all of Larry Correia's books and consider them to be first-rate popcorn reads. My favorite genre is complex, epic fantasy/sci-fi, but I like to mix in less complex, faster-paced books for fun and diversity. Larry Correia has written a number of strong entries in this category (e.g., Monster Hunter) and even some great ones (e.g. the Grimnoir series, although that series may actually fall more in the epic category I like best). I was initially unsure about the Dead Six series, but after finishing the first book I was glad I stuck with it and immediately read the second book, which I also enjoyed. I actually felt similarly about the MH series initially. I give it four stars because I reserve five for my favorites, but again, those generally fall within a different genre. For fast-paced military-type fiction, Larry Correira is one of the better authors. He's a bit hawkish and has an obvious passion for guns that can at times be a little much for me (given the gun violence we regularly face in the U.S.), but it's far less than in the MHI novels, and it's always focused on trained professionals and their tools. Makes sense given Larry's background (I believe he operated a gun store or range) and the nature of the Dead Six series, so I really have nothing to complain about. I've done a little reading about Larry, including some stuff on his MHN website and -- at least to me -- he seems like a real, interesting guy. That's in part because he doesn't mind stirring the pot or being controversial, but also because he balances that not only with strong conviction but with what seems like genuine caring and a deft touch for emotion that doesn't cross into syrupy sentimentality. That same balance is displayed in book three, perhaps better than the others (especially with Lorenzo, who is by far my favorite character in the series). As for Bronson Pinchot, the dude's got serious talent, and it's applied expertly here (as with the prior books). If you read the other two, there's no reason to hesitate.

    Worthy ending

Correia and Kupari end their action trilogy with this fast paced, yet surprisingly human novel. While I enjoyed Dead 6 and Swords of Exodous, and found the plot and action sequences entertaining, it was, at times, hard to sympathize too much with the protagonists. Alternately too GI Joe on one hand or annoyingly glib on the other, Val and Lorenzo rounded out more in this book, which made their war against global puppeteers all the more entertaining.

    Great story poor naration

it seems the narrator doesnt understand how flow works when reading a book. It was very jarring at times.

    Can we get number 4?

This was a great listen. The story and the inflection by the narrator are wonderful. I hope that there is a book number four on the horizon.

Pinchot is the perfect audible reader

This is authors Correia and Kupari third foray into the world of mercenaries and rule-the-world conspiracies. The battles are noisy and driving, the characters are lean and mean, the guns and weapons are lovingly described, and the story is always engaging. And through all of this, Bronson Pinchot voices dozens of characters using believable dialects of Americans, Europeans, Asians, men, women, good guys and bad. Pinchot provides the PERFECT narration to these three books (as well as Correia's Hard Magic stories).

    Not my favorite installment

I absolutely loved the first book. Loved the second. And had to push my way through this one. It was slow moving compared to the other two and did not have the same tension and level of suspense as the first one, or even the second. But in all fairness it can't be easy to keep writing books like that each and every time you pick up a pen. Or laptop. Or whatever. It was still entertaining but I don't think I'd recommend this installment. Of course, Bronson Pinchot was great in his narration. Without him I'm not sure I would have finished the book.

    Another Great Dead Six Adventure

More fast paced adventures with Valentine and Lorenzo! No one does shoot 'em up action like Correia and Kupari (pronounced "Wun Uh-ther").
Pinchot never disappoints as a narrator.

    couple of Bad assess

Not often do you find several heroes in one book but in this book they are there,
In the views of two of the heroes a couple of real bad asses so it’s on to book 3

    Great book but fantastic narration!

Correa and Kupari have written a great series here with characters who have depth and keep your interest. Pinchot does an amazing job with the narration. I know that the story held much more interest for me because of his narration. Don’t think I would have picked up on some of the subtle humor that the characters portray, especially Lorenzo, if I had been reading it instead of listening to Pinchot. Feels like they left an opening for another book but it’s been quite a while since the last one came out. Would love to see the series continue. Keeping my fingers crossed.
