Description

The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob—featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter.

Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble.

They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct. But political squabbles have a bad habit of dying hard, and the Brazilian probes are still trying to take out the competition. And the Bobs have picked a fight with an older, more powerful species with a large appetite and a short temper.

Still stinging from getting their collective butts kicked in their first encounter with the Others, the Bobs now face the prospect of a decisive final battle to defend Earth and its colonies. But the Bobs are less disciplined than a herd of cats, and some of the younger copies are more concerned with their own local problems than defeating the Others.

Yet salvation may come from an unlikely source. A couple of eighth-generation Bobs have found something out in deep space. All it will take to save the Earth and perhaps all of humanity is for them to get it to Sol - unless the Others arrive first.

Satisfying End to a Fun Series

It took a while for this one to get going for me but by the end of it I felt completely satisfied. Taylor wraps up all the loose ends and gives fitting endings to all of the characters. In keeping with the other 2 books, this one kept the balance of humor, pop culture references, heartfelt moments, and action. Ray Porter continues to show why he is one of the best in the business. I look forward to his future works.

I hope that this is the ending. Not because I'm glad it is over but rather I would hate to see it be brought back and have the conclusion tainted. The subjective nature of the ending is something that my friends and I are continuing to discuss and that is what makes a great story.

Overall: 4.75/5

Clean ending to a fantastic series

Note: Early readers need to redownload to get the complete book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As with any series ending, you always wish there was more, and this book didn't feel as complete as the others, but was still a great read. The conflicts that arose were varied, and exposes the depths of humanity's desire for power and self interest. They were not as complex as in the previous two books, and the resolution came about a bit easy at times, but it didn't take away my enjoyment. Besides, we wanted to get to the battle with the Others anyway. Again, it was over a bit too quickly, but definitely gives you a sense of finality. The only minor sticking point is the Medeiros story line doesn't feel as complete. There are some real emotional highs and lows in this book I don't want to come close to spoiling. Overall a great end to a fantastic series.

Ray Porter's performance is amazing.

Do not read this book without finishing the previous two.

Excellent

Excellent and imaginative. a really interesting view of what the human mind is capable of if given time. And how politics, Religious views and fanaticism can easily destroy a civilization.

I wonder what could have been

I'm not a writer and don't pretend to be a critic. It's easy to see what occurs in multi-sequel books and movies, that it's just not easy to tie a grand scheme together time after time. This is sort of how I felt with the wrap up of this series. The first part was excellent, interesting and novel... a new twist to AI and space exploration. But as the story progressed, it got bogged down in personal politics and rushed storytelling. It's like the author came to a crossroad in book 2... to the left lead a path that would bring this series to epic proportions and galactic grandeur, while the right path lead to a quick and convenient end. You can sense the greatness of what could have been and, in finishing the story, I felt a sense of loss that it could have been more.

That is not to say it was not enjoyable. It was just too conveniently and quickly ended.

The narrator was good throughout the books and finished well here in book three.

It was worth the credit and I don't regret it, although I'll continue to wonder what could have bbeen.

Compelling Narrative; Talented Performance

Bobiverse book 3 is sets a new standard in sci-fi storytelling awesomeness - things just get more interesting in the wake of crushing Delta Pavonus defeat. The foreboding 'Others' threat maintains a constant suspense you just keep wondering about. The storyline is filled with futuristic realism and compelling plot lines. Dennis Taylor masterfully progresses his grand-plan narrative into an ever culmination climax that leaves you begging for Book 4! Very well done! You'll be taken places you've never imagined possible.

Ray Porter skillfully narrates the complex Bobiverse cast of characters; His consistency of tone with each makes the audiobook very pleasing to listen to and highly believable. His highly talented performance will lead you from laughter to anxiety and everything in between. Thank you Ray for such a great performance; I highly look forward to the next installment!

Well... it was an ending.

The end feels like it was rushing to wrap up all the plot threads. The others were basically dealt with within a single paragraph...

Bobiverse started strong, ended meh

The first book mixed science-inspired speculation, social commentary and a personal narrative and the story managed to pull off a hat trick to end up unexpectedly complex and interesting. By the third book, we're forced to suspend disbelief endlessly, tolerate childish takes on sociology, and to top it off the writing is flat.

Gender roles in the story are pulled from the 1950s. Interaction with non-human species barely moves beyond the level of 1960's Star Trek TSOS. The social commentary has degenerated into the sort of stereotypical unempathetic complaints from nerd types about the stupidity of human society, while having very little experience of that society outside of their own suburban bubble. Even the speculation is mostly gone, replaced with refrains like the 'universality' of certain western societal traits among non-human societies.

This series could really have gone somewhere. The author hints at something like when describing how some later generation Bobs question their role as stewards of the "ephemerals". But given his lack of depth in just about every other area, it's not surprising that he fails to explore this, instead opting for a simplistic war narrative hinging on a basic grasp of the relatively slow speed of light.

Thankfully Ray Porter's performance remains on point. So at least there's that.

Boring Ending to (I thought) a Good Series

Great 1st book to the series, 2nd book ok, 3rd book blah. Like he didn't know where to go with the story so lets hurry up and end this already.

Mediocre to the end

Ponderings on (im)mortality don't get anywhere interesting, and the adventure is a bunch of cliches.

Very good, but too short ...

The story is, like the other books, very good and entertaining. It makes you think about the possibilities of the future.

Great final

Those who like positive sci-fi stories will love the trilogy. Even as a non native English speaker this book is spoken in a way to understand the story and the characters.

All good things come to an end

I just want more, but the story came to an end with this book. And it's a great one, like the two books before. I enjoyed the story, the speaker, just everything. If you haven't started bobiverse yet, you should do.

quick turns in story

First of all, I liked all three books and definitely recommand them.
only reason I don't give 5 stars, are the very quick turns in the story which seem like the author ran out of ideas...

There were (at least) two highly outstanding trilogies in recent years. One was Trisolaris and the other one is the Booooooooob!

Awesome and life changing!
Can’t wait for the sequel!!

Thank you so much for this mind boggling experience dear Dennis E. Taylor.

All a geek could ask for

Why did soneone install those freakin' tearducts? I enjoyed this so much but in the end I was so reluctant to end it...because...then it is over for good. This trilogy was (and probably will be) one of the most enjoyable, mindboggling, laughable sci-fi-geek stuff I've expierienced. We are Bob! Forever!
