    Description

It begins in the small, affluent town of Fairview, Connecticut, where everything seems picture perfect.

Until one night when young Jenny Kramer is attacked at a local party. In the hours immediately after, she is given a controversial drug to medically erase her memory of the violent assault. But in the weeks and months that follow, as she heals from her physical wounds, and with no factual recall of the attack, Jenny struggles with her raging emotional memory. Her father, Tom, becomes obsessed with his inability to find her attacker and seek justice while her mother, Charlotte, prefers to pretend this horrific event did not touch her carefully constructed world.

As Tom and Charlotte seek help for their daughter, the fault lines within their marriage and their close-knit community emerge from the shadows where they have been hidden for years, and the relentless quest to find the monster who invaded their town - or perhaps lives among them - drive this psychological thriller to a shocking and unexpected conclusion.

    Indescribable but i will try...

This is the type of story that one would like to share in a book club with others who have already experienced its power.

This story is so multifaceted and complex. The people involved are so.... human.

The emotions that it evoked in me completely ran the gamut between despair, Fury, empathy, forgiveness, and love.

Needless to say, Wendy Walker explored a territory which was very in-depth. She could have settled for simplistic and shallow. She could have given it a "happy ending" but instead she achieved a good ending. She could have given it heroes and demons. She did none of those things and this is what makes this book great!

I now have a new favorite writer. I also found a hero of a narrator in Dylan Baker,as he set the tone which was perfection.

    Disturbing in a bad way

I listened to this book even though I really didn't like it. The narrator or main character was this psychiatrist who was very manipulative although he would continually say how he was helping people. The graphic rape details were explicit. It just felt extremely creepy to be listening to this book. It felt like an invasion of the the rape victims privacy. I couldn't finish it. I just didn't like it at all. The ONLY thing I liked was the psychiatric terminology about different Axis disorders.

    Outstanding!!!!!!

Would you listen to All Is Not Forgotten again? Why?

Not sure about all the negative reviews, I loved this book!!!! Nothing wrong with the performance of Dylan Baker either. The character of Dr. Forrester is magnificent!!! I LOVED him, don't understand why others hated him, he is super smart, evil? not sure.... I don't think so..... He is extremely smart. Selfish? Perhaps.... But maybe he is also needy.... but I just love his character..... The relationships between Jenny, Tom, Charlotte, Sean, and Dr. Forrester, the way the story evolves, the way the story is told. LOVED IT.

What other book might you compare All Is Not Forgotten to and why?

Also, not sure why people are upset at the use of the word RAPE, it is a book of a horrific RAPE... with a specific horrendous act and descriptions... to drive the point home.

What about Dylan Baker’s performance did you like?

    LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried, cried, laughed..... and was extremely satisfied at the end.

    Any additional comments?

I loved this book.... The bond of empathy......

    Creepy story and reader voice

From the beginning found the reader voice creepy and the focus on the disgusting details of an assault and rape extremely unpleasant. The book never addresses the ethical issues of the protagonist, which are massive. Done read unless you have a strong stomach for gory details.

    A Disappointing Bore

This book was a disappointment. I was looking forward to this novel being a thriller, but not once did it put me at the edge of my seat.

The book is written like you're reading a Psychologist's journal. Being so one-sided made it a little bland.

I don't know why, but this was read EXTREMELY slow. I had to speed it up 25% just so he was reading at a normal speed.

On a side note: This novel is very graphic the whole way through, not just at the rape scene. It may make some readers uncomfortable.

Very interesting use of the narrative voice...

This book is suspenseful and offers an interesting perspective, although one or more of the plot twists stretches far beyond the bounds of coincidence. I kept wondering, "Exactly how small is this town that one psychiatrist is either related to or treating so many people who know each other?" Also, some license has been taken with the usual roles of psychiatry versus psychotherapy, etc. But again, if it was a small enough town, I suppose it could happen.

Well executed story. Kept my interest throughout.

This was definitely a book you can't put down. Each character is well defined . A good summer read!

    Disturbing

Terrible subject matter. The graphic details of disgusting behavior are things I don't want in my brain. My book club chose this book. I would not recommend it to anyone.

    Incredible read

I've listened to this book a few times, the narrator is so believable and the story line so fathomable you almost forget that it's a work of fiction! It draws you in and doesn't leave you unfulfilled. Every character is so well written you feel like they are actually a part of your real life and you're hoping for the best for everyone.
