    Description

In the propulsive debut novel from the host of the #1 true crime podcast Crime Junkie, a journalist uncovers her hometown’s dark secrets when she becomes obsessed with the unsolved murder of her childhood neighbor—and the disappearance of another girl twenty years later.

You can’t ever know for sure what happens behind closed doors.

Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

When Margot returns home to help care for her uncle after he is diagnosed with early-onset dementia, she feels like she’s walked into a time capsule. Wakarusa is exactly how she remembers—genial, stifled, secretive. Then news breaks about five-year-old Natalie Clark from the next town over, who’s gone missing under circumstances eerily similar to January’s. With all the old feelings rushing back, Margot vows to find Natalie and to solve January’s murder once and for all.

But the police, Natalie’s family, the townspeople—they all seem to be hiding something. And the deeper Margot digs into Natalie’s disappearance, the more resistance she encounters, and the colder January’s case feels. Could January’s killer still be out there? Is it the same person who took Natalie? And what will it cost to finally discover what truly happened that night twenty years ago?

Twisty, chilling, and intense, All Good People Here is a searing tale that asks: What are your neighbors capable of when they think no one is watching?

    All Good Writing Here

One of the best true crime story I've ever read (or listened to 😉). Amazing writing, amazing reading, with all the twists and turns you can expect. Ashley Flowers, you are a Goddess, thank you for this jewel !!

    Mixed feelings

I have some mixed feelings about the book. So I’m a crime Junkie fan was a bit skeptical about reading the novel but thought I would give it a try. When I got started it was actually quite additive I went through the whole 10+ hours in only a few days. While not the best book I’ve read it was pretty entertaining and if it wasn’t for the ending I probably would recommend it to others. I honestly thought I accidentally skipped to the next chapter or something it ended so abruptly… kinda disappointing but I …

    Too much hype?

Having just finished this book, I’m at a loss for my feelings on this debut novel. The ending is where I have the most issue - no spoilers, it is mostly exposition. Perhaps that is a symptom of being a new author? Overall, I enjoyed the dual timelines and how they interwove. Will definitely read a second novel if she chooses to write one.

    Derivative, but entertaining

As a true crime buff, I found this entertaining! A little too on to the nose with the JonBenet Ramsey case, with a touch of others like Casey/Caylee Anthony. I found the level of parallel distracting and somewhat lazy, like a re-imagining of the JBR case (maybe even a hint of what the author thinks happened there). It was very plot-focused and the characters could have used more development. The ending was abrupt; it was also open-ended, which can work, but not for this particular narrative. It seemed like it was going for Joyce Carol Oates vibes, but fell short on execution. I did like the structure, the shifting perspectives, jumping around in time. This novel had a lot of potential! Overall an entertaining read that kept me engaged, but if they'd spent more time developing it, it could have been better.

A lot of hype for a mediocre story

I don't write reviews. As a matter of fact this is the first one I have EVER written but I felt the truth needed to be told.

I am a true crime junkie. I have been rocking with Ashley and Britt from the beginning and purchased the book out of support for them and will purchase a second because I love them both.

However, I have to be honest this story fell short. People that are giving four and five stars are either doing it because it's Ashley or they don't read true crime. This story is the nonfiction story of JonBenet Ramsey with a little Casey Anthony thrown in and a sprinkle of fiction to tie it all together. There wasn't anything to figure out. The hyped up twists and turns that will supposedly keep you guessing until the very last page just isn't there. I'm sorry Ashley I love you and as I said I will support you if you decide to write another novel but I must be honest this one totally missed mark. I do believe that you have the potential to be a great author as I've seen your growth from when you started podcasting to now and you've become a great podcaster but I believe I'd be doing everyone an injustice to say this book is five stars just because I like Ashley and Britt when the truth is it's barely a two for me.

    Cliffhanger ending deserves 1 Star

While the story was OK, I figured out who killed January pretty quickly.

Margot is a typical slacker also known as a disorganized millennial who I despised.

The cliffhanger will not entice me to buy the next book.

    Extremely Disappointing

I love Crime Junkies podcast and wanted to love this book, but it was torture getting as far along as I did. Twists and turns? I don't thinks so. It was the dullest, most boring crime story I've ever read or listened to. Reading it may have improved the story, as I found the narrator to be just awful. She made the characters sound so slow and stupid. I felt compelled to give it a good chance but when I realized I didn't even care to find out how it ended was when I decided to return it. Not worth the credit but I still love Crime Junkie.

Alternate title: Flowers Take on JonBenét Ramsey

Unoriginal story. Just a copy of the JonBenét Ramsey case. Ending was uninspiring and didn’t even resolve.

Not all bad, it was entertaining.. but I couldn’t really get over those two things.

    I wanted to love it… I’m sorry but it’s I can’t! ☹️

I love Crime Junkie & maybe if she had read this herself I could have listened to it but I had to skip most of the chapters. I skimmed each chapter because I really hoped it would be a great book because I love Ashley & Crime Junkie.
I think the positive comments on here are because they feel Ashley is a friend & wants this new venture into writing to work. Maybe an actual book would have been better because you can read the first and last chapter.
    Maybe I’m to picky?
I fell asleep listening to it & woke up with it still playing & there’s nothing new happening.
I wanted to love it. I’m sorry but I really don’t.
I love crime junkie podcast however.

Left a big hole at the end

I enjoy listening to a variety of audiobooks and podcasts. this was a decent listen, with good performances and writing. Sometimes the conversations were unrealistic, but overall an entertaining story. I listen while working and thought I had accidentally skipped a chapter at the end before the epilogue. I went back and checked, even replayed the last chapter to see if I skipped something. Apparently it was intentional. So strange and unsatisfying. I would love to have Luke or another character add some good action and closure to that last chapter. A real missed opportunity to climax and close what could have been a good story.

ASHLEY'!! does your phenomenal talent shine through in every single second spent in this book just mind-blowing , is not even the words for it. This is without a doubt one of the best true crime thrillers I've dug my heels into . I personally got into it to the point where I felt Uncle Luke at my heart certain parts of it, I reflected back onto my relationship with my grandmother . You really feel involved in the story trapped in this amazing world wind of cliffhangers to the very end, take that challenge crack this book and get lost in this mystery You will not regret it , It will leave you wanting more from this outstandingly amazing author Ashley flowers !
