Quand les brioches collent des pains, les chasseurs de mages dégustent ! J'ai rarement autant apprécié un jeunesse. Attention : ça déborde d'humour, certes, mais c'est loin d'être cosy. On parle de guerre, de meurtres en série et on aborde des réflexions très dures sur l'héroïsme. Ça commence sucré et ça laisse un goût amer. Grosse recommandation.

I read several of her books and really like this author. T. Kingfisher has a great sense of humor, empathy and psychology. Her characters are endearing, they are not perfect and glamorous, we can relate to their worries and problems, their relationships are touching and their worlds quite interesting. Bob and the horse lady are unforgettable. Though the plot may seem common (young teen with magic powers tries to save everyone), the author blends them into an original and quite good recipe.

Also, the author uses family friendly language and content for this younger audience book, so it should be perfectly ok for sensitive persons too. Some difficult themes like murder and war are included in the story, but with empathy, tact and no graphic details. Her adult books are great too, I highly recommend them, but just be careful if you are sensitive, as these contain strong language and explicit content.

The story was good fun and tense or sad in places - a nice fairly lighthearted listen. But for me it was spoilt by the narrator whose attempted English accent was grating and odd given the book was clearly writin American English
