    Description

The number-one best-selling series returns with a thrilling new story arc set in America!

Vintage photographs reveal the never-before-seen world of peculiar America with a stunning addition - full-color images.

Having defeated the monstrous threat that nearly destroyed the peculiar world, Jacob Portman is back where his story began, in Florida. Except now Miss Peregrine, Emma, and their peculiar friends are with him, and doing their best to blend in. But carefree days of beach visits and normalling lessons are soon interrupted by a discovery - a subterranean bunker that belonged to Jacob’s grandfather, Abe.

Clues to Abe’s double-life as a peculiar operative start to emerge, secrets long hidden in plain sight. And Jacob begins to learn about the dangerous legacy he has inherited - truths that were part of him long before he walked into Miss Peregrine’s time loop.

Now, the stakes are higher than ever as Jacob and his friends are thrust into the untamed landscape of American peculiardom - a world with few ymbrynes, or rules - that none of them understand. New wonders, and dangers, await in this brilliant next chapter for Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children.

Includes a bonus PDF with haunting vintage photographs that reveal the never-before-seen world of peculiar America with a stunning addition - full-color images.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the bonus PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

The person who reads is fantastic. Otherwise I love the 3 first tome but I don't like so much this one...

    Missing chapters

The majority of the first chapter is missing. There is info required to understand chapter two that is missing. Nothing says whether or not this title is abridged.

    Too loud

This yarn is almost as enjoyable as the previous ones, with so many events crammed inside the chapters that it feels a bit like a rollercoaster ride, however one likes those. This one takes place partly in present day US, after Jake Portman returns home, from the Library of Souls, with twists and turns in and out of loops. The narrator is superb, but in this story there is a lot of yelling which when you listen with earphones to an audio book- you have to turn down the volume as not to damage your eardrums. If you just read this, it won't be a problem. This is not the narrator's fault, but the audio techs'. But that was enough to disturb the flow of the story which was disappointing. Otherwise I still find myself falling asleep from the otherwise smooth narration and seamless story line when listening in bed, and ending up in some strange dreams. The author has great imagination and makes it all flow from one peculiar place or person to another but actually makes it all seem completely normal. This story makes it clear you must read the next. I already have the fifth book and will pursue my dreams in peculiar dom. They continue to be greatly entertaining, which we all need at this time.

    Too far off

i was sadly disappointed with the story line. Too much teenage quirkiness and a slow start in the beginning with not enough of the original personalities of the main characters showing. I understand that the author was trying to show how they were now normally aging, but I think he tried too hard. I also wanted to skip through alot of the "American gangerster" and screaming spoiled child parts. It was too far off the original story line. however towards the end it made more sense. Hopefully the next book will tie it all together nicely. Kerby Heybourne's performance was stellar!

    Awful narrator, poor story

I suppose I'm in the minority here (I am a 34 year old woman,) but the narrator is awful, so so awful, apparently I liked him before, but now, I don't know why he does the voice of the narration so much differently than when the narrator, Jacob, speaks in dialogue. As for the writing, Jacob has become more a brat, and twice as much SCREAMING, I never ever ever need to hear Kirby whatshisname screaming out my car radio again, and lines like "the vice principal-ish guy," is so lazy, weak, and childish (for lack of a better word,) and I know it's a children's book, but either I'm remembering the first three books better than they were, or Ransom really forced himself to get this thing written and relied far too heavily on his weak descriptions of pictures he just happened to come across in the time since the third book. The story sounds forced, and frankly not well thought out, and relies mostly on Jacob having tantrums, the writing is weak, and it's a TOTAL cliffhanger P.S., there is no real ending, there's no map of days, what's the map of days? We don't know because the damn book has nothing to do with a map of days, there's cartoon map from a diner, that it? I don't know. I'm so irritated with this installment, the movie already destroyed what was great about the first three books, then this comes along and ruined my desire to carry on with anything that follows. If you're a fan who likes everything blindly without scrutiny read it, if you value good writing, and don't like people screaming from your radio, I'm not exaggerating I turned it down multiple times because it was obnoxious and unnecessary, I'd skip it and let the first three books hold your heart.

    Narrator

I continue to find the narrator less and less likable. He is whiney and far to soft and breathy. It’s an odd listen that doesn’t align well with the previous books in the series. I’ve heard it out and I’ve lost my interest.

    Characters Evolved beyond their nature

Characters changed too much from the rest of the series. Even Miss Peregrine became someone completely different and temperamental, something completely off character. Too much of an abrupt end and no answer as to how Noor was released by H. They just ended the Book and that’s it. As as fan, I was expecting a different direction.

    Excellent voices

Seriously, the story is great, but the Voices! This voice actor has such a range of accents. Makes it so much more enjoyable!
