Description
The amazing life story of Britain's world conquering triathlete, Chrissie Wellington. Chrissie Wellington is the world's No 1 female Ironman triathlete, the current quadruple World Champion and World Record holder. In 2009 she was voted 'Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year' and in 2010 was awarded the MBE. She is the undefeated champion of Triathlon, having won nine Ironman titles from nine races. Her World Record setting race time of 8:19:13 at Quelle Roth Germany in 2010 slashed over 14 minutes from the previous record and where she was only beaten by six men. Chrissie has displayed unprecedented levels of stamina, strength and competitiveness in becoming Ironman World Champion in only her second event at Ironman level. Her victory in Kona, Hawaii in 2007 finishing in 9:08:45 - five minutes ahead of her nearest rival - was described as the 'biggest upset in Ironman history' and 'a remarkable feat, deemed to be near impossible task for any athlete racing as a rookie at their first Ironman World Championships'. She defended her World title in Hawaii in 2008 and again in 2009 and won back her title in 2011 after having to withdraw from the 2010 race due to illness.
This is the remarkable story of how a Norfolk girl - a 'sporty kid, swimming, playing hockey, running, but never excelling and always more interested in the social side of the sports scene' - became a world champion. Chrissie Wellington is the world-record holder for ironman-distance triathlon, and she remains undefeated over the Ironman distance.

Underwhelming
I came for a story about running, Ironmen and triathlons and instead got an egotistical account of her education which I just didn’t care for.

I just can't take it anymore!!
I just can't take it anymore!! I tried and tried but it is so drug out at the beginning with thanks to everybody she has ever met in her entire life from birth but then goes into me me me me and how bad I used to be but how great I am now. I got a few chapters in and had to quit. I listened to other documentaries from Chris froome, Bradley Wiggins and Sean Yates and they were good but this was too much.

Exceptional!
As a female triathlete and Ironman myself, this book was incredibly inspiring. I love how Chrissie went into detail about all the emotions that come along with such a big race. some reviewers found it boring and draggy but I think it works really well foe this type of story.

Great inspiration for Athletes
Start was little slow but it picked up the pace after certain period when she started her training with Bret. Explanation of the feelings is amazing. I loved the explanation of races.

Good But Not Great
Good performance. A bit of an affected tone at times.
Story had interesting bits but spent too long on non-triathlon stuff and was repetitive. Ms. Wellington came across as self-absorbed.
Nevertheless, an impressive athlete.

HARD PASS
Glosses over important topics such as body image and toxic culture in the sport of triathlon. There's also a significant portion of this book dedicated to excusing and rationalizing what appears to be abusive behavior by her convicted child molester of a coach. I'm not one to normally comment on toxic relationships and sexual assault but this was so awful I can't be silent.
The narration was fine except the word "lei" was butchered multiple times.

Well written, well narrated and thoroughly enjoyed it
I am a 46 yo female age group triathlete. I loved this book. I loved hearing her background story, I loved how tactful, kind and balanced her opinions are, and I loved hearing about her training and racing. Very motivating for those of us who love sport. I hope some day I might get to meet Chrissie.

Good read
The first two hours were really hard to get into. More details about the earlier races would have been great. More information about training and nutrition also would have been good. Otherwise I really enjoyed this book.

Best triathlon book ever
I actually listened to this book twice , I just couldn’t get enough of Chrissie’s story . She is one tough girl . She doesn’t whine or bitch or complain , she go outs and does her thing ! I love they fact that she absolutely fell in love with the sport , and makes one fall I love with it to ! I couldn’t believe her hectic training schedule, no wonder the woman is a superpower! I would recommend this book to anyone who have any doubts about their ability to complete any sporting event , gosh Chrissie most often raced with borrowed equipment ! Awesomeness .

The Muppet Show
A very honest and straight forward deep insight into the world of an ironman champion. Chrissie Wellington aka Muppet offers a close look at the bumpy business side of the triathlon sport, detailed info on digestion and injury and - which makes up the biggest part of this book - the private live, thoughts and feelings of a very charming and funny person. In being refreshingly ordinary on one side and outstandingly adamant and focused on the other side, she stands out as a very inspiring athlete whose life story (so far) is exciting and funny to read.
