The 1000 essential words in Spanish. Spanish is a Western Romance language and has hundreds of millions of native speakers in the Americas and Spain. It is usually considered a global language and the world's second-most spoken native language, after Mandarin Chinese, with a total of 570 million total speakers in the world.
