The Lenders Trilogy

Everything it gives is a loan. At 2 a.m., in a thin-walled apartment in Daly City, nineteen-year-old Eli Navarro cracks a puzzle three thousand people gave up on. The answer is two words: HELLO ELI. Eli has always heard the patterns hidden inside noise. Now something has heard him back. The message leads him four hundred meters beneath the Greenland ice sheet, to a secret research station where a machine built over ancient carvings has started answering questions no one asked it. It knows things it shouldn't. It can do things that shouldn't be possible, and it has chosen Eli to listen. But the station has a ghost: a young fisherman who heard the same voice three years ago and was lucky right up until he wasn't. His sister Nive knows what the voice cost her family. A secret financial trust wants what it can make. A federal agent wants to know why the world's gold markets have started to shake. And whatever is speaking through the machine has made its terms very clear: What we lend, we always collect. Aurum is Book One of the Lenders Trilogy.
