Against all odds, Chiagozie Chike was determined to make her marriage work. However, the pre-natal test that confirmed that she was going to give birth to a baby girl, instead of her mother in-law’s much-desired baby boy was the proverbial last straw that broke the Carmel’ s back in her marriage. It was no longer if, but when the marriage would crash. The arrival of her baby girl notwithstanding, Chiagozie’ s overbearing mother-in law, and her ‘weak’ husband threw both her and her baby out of her marriage. With the new opportunity presented to her and her baby to relocate to the United States, it became certain that the last was yet to be heard, concerning the injustice she suffered in her marriage.
