For years I read through the Bible in its entirety after being challenged by our group leader on my first mission trip to Haiti. During these readings I glossed over even skipped reading through the entire list. Then one year I chose to read each name no matter what. In reading each name I found the names of the women I had never heard about in the pulpit, or in Bible studies.

Sarah is the first matriarch of the Bible. She brings jubilee, joy, and we rejoice in her name and knowing. Blue Papyrus Sarah recognizes her authority and leadership in addition to her servanthood and skill as a servant leader. We often call the names of the partners of the matriarchs but here we focus instead on the first matriarch in all of her glory, gifts, and gratitude.

Unseen, unheard, and forgotten are the words that come to mind when I think of the women of the Word of God. The narrative that should speak Love, Light, and New Life is dismissed as unimportant to the narrative of sentient beings. Wade with the Women of the Word: Blue Papyrus Adah and Zillah sings a new song for the women known only to readers as wife or daughter, thus singing a new melody for sentient beings everywhere.

The oppressive Eve narrative of sin, shame, and blame has permeated the fabric of global social structures. Wade with the Women of the Word: Blue Papyrus Eve awakens a narrative that shines light, illuminates love, and springs new life. It lifts Eve out of the sin and shame narrative into a narrative of life, thus freeing all creation.
