For over seventy years and five generations, the enslaved families of Prince George's County, Maryland, filed hundreds of suits for their freedom against a powerful circle of slaveholders, taking their cause all the way to the Supreme Court. Between 1787 and 1861, these lawsuits challenged the legitimacy of slavery in American law and put slavery on trial in the nation's capital. Piecing together evidence once dismissed in court and buried in the archives, William Thomas tells an intricate and intensely human story of the enslaved families.

Bitter Lips, Sweet Heart is a unique collection of romantic poetry first assembled by a group of young male college students who got together to read poetry and drink tea every week, thinking themselves spurned romantics and talented poets. Most of the original selections have been forgotten, and the collection has been updated for this simple release with a sense of irony and sheepishness in mature adulthood. So what is this Middle Class American White Boy all about? It’s sort of a memoir in verse. This second edition contains 20 stories (narratives) (poems) from some crucial or mind-expanding time in my life. The idea is to tell as much story as possible in the fewest possible words. "The Universe", for instance - my own personal War & Peace - tells the tale of my time in Argentina during the Dirty War. When I wrote the account many moons ago it topped out at almost 30,000 words. I have now reduced that same story to a narrative verse of just over 900 words.

The abolitionists saw slavery as a stain and an affliction on the United States and made it their goal to eradicate slave ownership. Abolitionists produced anti-slavery literature, sent petitions to Congress, and ran for political office.

St. Peter, also known as Simon Peter of Cephas, is considered the first Pope of Rome, yet St. Peter had humble beginnings as a fisherman. Later he became one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. He was ordained by Jesus Christ as "the Rock of My Church" (Matt 16:17). Jesus said further, "Simon son of Jonah, you are blessed!" Gambit, the dachshund, can’t get used to the idea of sharing anything - let alone an apartment - with Rogue, the feline wonder. The cat always slips away just when he thinks he’s got her cornered.

At Kapow Koffee, business is brewing with cats, comic books, and triple iced upside-down caramel macchiatos. Oh, and there’s a dapple dachshund in the mix, too. Turns out, being a successful entrepreneur is exhausting! Owner Kirby Jackson is in desperate need of a break from routine.
