It is 1989 and the disease resulting from the testing of experimental bioweapons has ravaged much of the world. The UK and Europe are in chaos as the virus spreads uncontrollably. The US, nominally arriving in force to offer military and humanitarian assistance to their allies, are posturing dangerously with the east and failing to unite over the common enemy of humanity.

Disorder and chaos ravage London when thousands are contaminated by the accidental discharge of an experimental bio-weapon. The disease robs its hosts of rational thought, giving them a singular desire - find more living flesh to infect. Cut off from information and senior leadership, one squadron of soldiers under the command of their senior NCO, Sergeant Major Johnson, finds itself forced to operate independently until the remnants of military and government command re-establish themselves safely at sea in the English Channel.

Eve is a captive of the Party. Adam, having fled the Citadel with others, finds himself beyond the Frontier in an underground world where nothing is as he expected it to be. Nathaniel and his soldiers sweep the city clean of the Resistance, who are busy limiting the damage their exposure has caused. Starting fresh, they lick their wounds and mourn their losses. Eve is shown an alternative version of their history, but attempts to turn her against her own people meet with unexpected obstacles.

The world is in ruins. Scattered pockets of humanity rule over their own territory, and by the 24th century, a merciless political group known as the Party has seized control of the nation through military force. They'll never let that power go. Party soldiers patrol the streets around the clock, and the citizens are watched day and night by cameras and drones. Freedom is dead, but from the darkness comes a glimmer of light - a hope of overthrowing the vicious regime.

Odell finds himself paired with the oldest member of their organization as their greatest enemy—the vampire that killed his entire team of marines—makes a play for an endgame that will wipe out its adversaries and leave the world undefended.

From the aftermath of their near catastrophic brush with the werewolf pack in Florida, Odell turns his attentions to training his new recruit. When a series of brutal murders on the West Coast hit the organization’s radar, a team is dispatched to investigate but rapidly learn they need more fighters on the ground to stop the killing spree forcing Odell to drop Tamar in the deep end to complete her training. Meanwhile, far to the south in Rio de Janeiro, Delaney is sent to investigate another unsettling sequence of events that mean a painful brush with Tara’s past for the team.
