The last Warlord of Rheged is faced with a dilemma. His brothers are besieged by the Saxons and he has to travel through hostile territory to rescue them. He is embroiled in a war with the men of Gwynedd as well as having to fight off raids from the Irish.

When Sir Henry Samuel’s nephew, Sir Matthew, has to go to the crusades with Henry of Almain he does so reluctantly. The crusade that was almost a disaster did not begin well. With an aging king and aging regent left to rule England, it is left to lords like the Earl of Cleveland to put out the last lingering embers of the de Montfort rebellion.

With the Civil War seeming to be never ending, the Warlord and Duke Henry decide on a bold strategy which pits the men of the north against the might of Stephen and his forces. At the same time, a conspiracy of kings and counts attempt to wrest the young duke's lands from him. Betrayed by his own family, Henry becomes the king who in later life will conquer Wales and Ireland. We see the cub grow into a lion and hear him roar.

Jarl Dragon Heart is set to trade and raid in the seas beyond the world he knows. He has to venture, with an ever decreasing number of oathsworn warriors, to face new and terrible enemies. Dragon Heart's daughter and daughter in law had been kidnapped. He has to to search for them in the lands and the seas of his enemies. He faces enemies with magical powers as well as enemies who have castles which cannot be taken. In a fast moving story filled with battles at sea and on land our Viking hero has more twists and turns to contend with than he has encountered before. The story moves from the north to Cornwall, Wales and back to the north as Dragon Heart and his men are stretched to the limit.

King Henry is not a good king. His son, The Lord Edward, promises strength but the Earl of Leicester, Simon de Montfort seeks the throne and the crown. When civil war erupts there is only one place for the knights of the valley, now led by the Warlord’s heir, Sir Henry Samuel, and that is by the side of the king. For good or ill they will do as they have always done and support the king. Their fate is entwined with the Plantagenets.

When Sir Andrew Murray and William Wallace inflict a humiliating defeat on the Earl of Surry at Stirling Bridge then Gerald Warbow is sent to begin the war that will see the Scottish and English armies clash at Falkirk.

The Raven Wing Clan have fought off their enemies and prosper on their island home. A sibling rivalry threatens to break apart the fabric of their lives and Hrolf the Horseman is sent on a mission deep in into the heart of Frankia to heal the rift. When Jarl Gunnar Thorfinnson decides to take a wife it embroils the clan in an alliance which takes the clan far from home to fight overwhelming numbers of wild and fierce warriors. It is a novel filled with battles and intrigue.

England has a new King. Henry is the young son of King John. Guided by a Council of regents and the Earl Marshal he has a divided England to heal. When William Marshal gives Sir Thomas, Earl of Cleveland, the responsibility of making the young King a warrior, he sets in motion a series of events which, although they might begin to heal the kingdom will bring pain to the Earl and his family.

Hrolf the young Viking has left the service of Jarl Dragonheart and sails with Jarl Gunnar Thorfinnson. When they find a home off the Frankish coast they begin to accumulate a vast fortune which earns them the enmity of other Vikings. The novel culminates in a bloody battle where Viking fights Viking but Hrolf begins to fulfill his destiny as Hrolf the Horseman!
