Anne Elliot has grieved for seven years over the loss of her first love, Captain Frederick Wentworth. But events conspire to unravel the knots of deceit and misunderstanding in this beguiling and gently comic story of love and fidelity.

Persuasion follows Anne Elliot, a strong young woman, as she is reacquainted with her once-fiance, Frederick Wentworth. In Austen’s beloved witty writing, the story follows the duo and their families as they face financial troubles, crisscrossed relationships, the strong emotions of jealousy and unrequited affection, and the societal pressures of the age.

A moving love story displaying all of Austen's signature wit and ironic narrative style. Persuasion is Jane Austen's last completed novel. She began it soon after she had finished Emma, completing it in August 1816.

What happens when they encounter each other again is movingly told in Jane Austen's last completed novel.
