This heart-warming account of veterinary life traces Ivor Smith's early days as a student at university through setting up his own practice in the Cotswolds, recounting a memorable 40 years in the profession. Following in the Herriot tradition of veterinary humour, Ivor's memories of life as a vet in a very mixed practice include hilarious incidents, colourful local characters and engaging patients.

In those days, I thought I wouldn't live past 60 years old, but here I am - 90 years old, and still going strong. Well, not so strong, but people are surprised when I tell them how old I am! And would you believe it - due to the encouragement of a few of my family, friends, VA doctors, nurses, and counselors, I have completed this book about the first 17-and-a-half years of my life.
