When his town collapses from a massive earthquake, Wallace Graves is lucky to survive. When the tsunami follows and he makes it through that, he knows just how fortunate he is. If they hope to survive long enough to escape, they'll have to tackle an all-but-forgotten mystery buried at the town's border as well as seek the wisdom of a mysterious group of mages.

The Starbreakers were heroes, until a tragedy broke them apart. Only now, years later, have they begun to make peace with each other. The rest of the world is a different story. There has been a breakout in the prison known as Oblivion, and now the worst of the worst have been turned loose on an unsuspecting world. Desperate to contain the crisis, the right hand of the king has called the disgraced Starbreakers back into service. After all, they were the ones who put most of these villains away in the first place.

On the technological, decadent world of Proton, someone was trying to destroy Stile, serf and master Gamesman. His only escape lay in Phaze, a world totally ruled by magic. Soon he learned that his alternate self had already been murdered, and that he was next. On Proton, his fate depended on winning the great Games. On Phaze, he must master magic to survive. And if he used any magic at all, his friends were determined to kill him at once!

There are nine known realms, a world for each race, including dwarves, gnomes, and elves. In the middle rests Middang3ard. Each world knows the others. Each, except Earth. Humans long ago turned their backs on magic, throwing their stock into science and technology, their governments shielding the people from the reality of what was going on elsewhere. So be it. Humans were never very good at getting along with other races anyway. Then the Dark One appeared, threatening to overrun the nine worlds, starting with Middang3ard and ending with the humans' planet.

As society falls deeper and deeper into their addictions to technology–in particular, the spiritual enhancer–they start to lose touch with reality and begin to move further and further from their innate gifts and abilities–stunting human evolution. Someone or something has tapped into the vibrational frequency, manipulating the whole world. How is it that they can notice how chaotic things have become and still believe it’s free will? No one wants to question everything.
