Discovered in the Unknown Wilderness when she was just a baby, Indigo Wilde was adopted by world-famous explorers Philomena and Bertram, who are always off adventuring. Home for Indigo and her little brother, Quigley, is 47 Jellybean Crescent, a crazy and colourful house full of magical creatures that her parents have taken in over the years.

Indigo has lots of new Creatures to look after at her home on Jellybean Crescent, so she's busier than ever. Her parents have disappeared off once more to the Unknown World - and before she knows it, they've sent back a trio of giants for her to take care of. Usually, Indigo would have no problem at all with the extra Creatures - she loves a new challenge - but the shady Mr Templeton-Quirk has appeared and he has dastardly plans. Indigo will need help from all her friends in both the Known and Unknown Worlds to save the day.

On Thursday, the doorbell rings at Indigo Wilde's house. It's a moon bear - an enormous winged bear covered with stars. The bear tells Indigo that her parents were studying it in its habitat in the Unknown Wilderness...and now they've vanished. Indigo and her brother Quigley head off to rescue their parents. On their journey they come across many magical and extraordinary new creatures, but their parents are nowhere to be seen. Fortunately, there are other people studying the wildlife in the Unknown Wilderness. But do the people they meet really have the best intentions?

Indigo's going back to school after a long bout of glandular fever. He's not looking forward to it, as he knows the bullies will be waiting for him. But he's determined to stand on his own two feet—so when Saffy and Sarah break up a fight in the boys' bathroom, he's furious. Until he meets Tom. Tom is over from the States for a term, staying with his gran while his family sort out their own problems back home. He loves music and joking and is unfazed by the bullies.
